Message settings ignored?

Got my first game going (steam version) and as usual went in and set all the message settings how I want them.

But the game pretty much ignores them.

I went in again and just set everything to pop-up and pause, but nothing does.

eg I set war and peace notifications to that but still all I get is the message sent to the bottom text box.

Bug? Or what?

Have you changed the character scopes in the outliner accordingly as well?
If you set them to only show messages regarding direct vassals and close family members, then everything a random independent heathen does will only end up in the log, regardless of settings (ie: the settings only determine how messages are shown in situations where they are set to be shown in the first place).

Yes, it seems all of my settings for messages are ignored.

ie I changed the one for people dying (which would show up in low-priority) to be high-priority. Next message went to low again.
Also tried the same with births - set to pop-up, set to high ... still gets sent to low.

I'll play around with it some more but no luck so far.
