It has been mentioned before, yes. The reason is that you cannot have an air stack larger than 5 units, at least not in the demo.

From misc.txt in the \db folder:
Code:
# Maximum sizes of air-stacks
	5

Yes there is, simply change the number 5 for a 6 or other number in the misc file :). This HOI version looks incredibly more modable than HOI 1 which is great.

I have several problems with merging air units.

When i use the sprites i can, most of the time, simply frame the airbase and merge them. But sometimes(ie in some provinces) it is hard to not hit land units instead.

When i use counters(which i prefer) it seems that i cannot merge air units at all, except they are the only units in the province.

Miss i something? why can't i simple remove the units i don't want to merge in the province summary? Whenever i click at a unit there it brings up the unit stats, the strg/shift buttons don't seem to work.

I really want a better way to choose multiple air units.

Actually there is one way; click the air plane-symbol to the top-left, and you get a listing of all your air units. Then use, IIRC, Click + Shift to remove units from the list.

Alternatively, click on one air unit, then shift-click (or is it ctrl-click? I forget) on it to bring up all the air units in the province. Shift click out the units you don't want, then merge at will.

It's kind of a PITA, but it works.

This doesn't seem to work at all. Are you sure?

All i can do is click at airbases and click with shift at the green bars. This is quite annoying with greater stacks because you don't know which bar belongs to which unit and it doesn't work while using counters.

Isn't there a simple way, with land units it works well, why not with air units? :(

I haven't had any issues managing the air units the way Grim described. In fact it hasn't seemed any harder than land units to me. And far better than the old way where you had to move your stinking air units out of the province ot reorganize ala HoI1.

select one air unit. hold shift and drag a box and all air units within the box will be desplayed.

shift click on any to remove it from the selected list.

way to do it if I remember correct.
