Hello everyone,
I'm new here so if I posted on wrong section, I apologize first.
And here is what I am facing:
I played as Byzantine empire ruler which started 769 bookmark, it's a ironman save which I want to try to do the achievement related to Roman Empire.
And funny thing happened, I sent one of my family member to be a merchant republic in Flanders. But his sons were dead and the ai chose me as the successor of the family, and suddenly, my government type change to merchant republic! Truly become Roman republic with all laws remained, including the imperial administration. Is this a bug?

Second case, I feel it's fun to play a Roman republic so I kept doing it, and more funny stuff came out. Firstly, whenever there is a faction rebelled, if the ecumenical patriarch is in the rebel, once I occupy the bishopric of Constantinople, the war score will directly go to 100%. Secondly, the independence factions leader, the hochmeister of Teutonic order, called a rebel war, it will auto win without any war time happen, and no one in the faction went to jail and the faction remain. Are these another bug?

Third case is about how to play as merchant republic. I have 36 trade post right now, I know if there are adult male family members alive, I will have extra trade post, therefore I need to pay the tax for my alive family member (right now I have 130 income but about 80 tax paid monthly), which is a lot right now, how should I do with this to decrease the cost and remain the limit of trade post? Can I give them landed? And will this cause the decrease of my trade post?
The thing is that when it changed to merchant, I have already a lot of feudal viceroyalty which mostly are my family members, I am afraid of the penalty of viceroyalty so I did not give out new kingdom level republic because it can't be viceroyalty, the viceroyalty can only give to feudal.

my version is 2.5.2 checksum YZAZ

Thanks!

So it isn't a bug, you can be an Imperial Merchant Republic, its just very unlikely. The Eccumenical Patriarch only holds one holding, so yeah, once you conquer him it can tick the war over to a win because you've captured the rebel's capital. The Holy Order thing is because he doesn't have any holdings in your realm, so as the leader he automatically doesn't have land, and cannot fight the war, so it is called off. This IS a bug, but one i'm not keen to see removed as Council factions still need tweaking.

You'll only get trade post points for unlanded male dynasts in your court, so you cannot land them.

Hopefully this has cleared some stuff up.

thanks very much
but the holy order he actually has holding in my realm, that's why u feel strange. Then, for the patriach, he is not the head of faction so.. But what u said make sense, thanks.
Then for the unland members, so I can't do anything with the cost monthly right?,

Thanks
