In southeast Asia, Portuguese mercenaries like Diogo Soares played an important role in wars like the Burmese–Siamese War. However, there are no in-game systems to reflect this besides the Condottieri system.
To reflect this scenario, countries that are adjacent to the trade company region should be available to recruit special mercenaries. In an ideal case, these mercenaries have a trade company overlord's unit group, military techs, etc but I don't think that's possible and some strong bonus like +1 infantry fire and +1 artillery fire will work. If they're too powerful, some restrictions like your adjacent trade company region need trade company's investment 'Company Garrison' could work IMO.
