Hi, new to the forum - I noticed that the game was running very jaggedly, even on a new game with an empty map. I opened Task Manager and found that the game's memory usage was colossal.

Here's the memory usage screenshot:

And here's the monster city I had to build to get it that way:

(apologies for the large images)

(note that memory usage was very high even in the main menu. this is also after deleting and re-downloading the game in an attempt to solve this problem)

What's going on?

That's only 1 gig, that's nothing. This is a 64 bit game and will use as much memory as it can. Thus why 8 gigs of RAM is recommended. Just about every game I have that is 64 bit will use at least 1 gig, some 2+. Totally normal. How much memory do you have because for a 64 bit OS you should have 4 gig as a bare minimum but 8 is really what you need to run things effectively and really 16 gig is pretty much the standard for most gamers these days.

In other words this isn't a problem, it's totally normal and sounds like you may need more RAM because anything under 8 isn't enough.

Thanks for the clarification - it turned out my PC didn't have as much RAM marked as usable as it should, and freeing it up appears to have solved the slowdown issues I was getting. Issue on my end, rather than with the game :p
