Then you would be wrong. The Mac version does not require AVX, but has far higher minimum specs. in fact the minimum specs on Mac are the same as the recommended specs on PC. so while they technically could do a version without AVX, everyone would see decreased performance, and the people complaining would be playing slide shows.

If the game is playable without AVX on a Mac running an i5-6500, then a non-AVX build on Win10 would absolutely be playable on an X5690.

If PI are able to build the Mac version without AVX, then there really is no reason they can't do the same for Windows.
Either provide it as an optional binary that is selectable within the launcher, or provide it as a beta branch in Steam.
It'd have zero adverse effect upon the general user, and would allow those few with old CPUs to still experience the game.

Except no, there are multiple reasons why not to do that, and they have already said they wont. give it up.

Are you really going to tell me people using server CPU's as desktop CPU's, and CPU's that are over a decade old, are a demographic they should be caring about? I'll guarantee you the number of people in this position is far lower than you think.

They have said they wont, and i applaud them for it.

What CPU do you have? and what do you mean by crashing? If your issue was AVX, it wouldn't start.
I am able to open the game, go through the menu options but if I select a preset tutorial campaign or select a nation within the sandbox startup, thats when the game crashes. I have submitted the ticket several times but have been posting on here hoping for a response.

Mac OS: Big Sur 11.7
Processor: 2.6 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2 GB

According to Intel, it has AVX support

Your issue is 100% not related to the AVX requirement. the Mac version does not use AVX at all.

funny i have a Pentium N5030 4c.4t its a 2019 CPU and i got no Avx suport :)
That’s not too surprising.

There are lots of different CPUs designed for different uses. Your CPU is likely for light office work or answering emails or the like.

A CPU like that has no reason to come with AVX, since the CPU is designed for a pretty light load. That’s why it’s inexpensive (relatively speaking) and has such low power requirements.

Unfortunately, that CPU isn’t very good for gaming unless you’re only looking to play older games.
