To #1, #3, they are statements. It will be difficult to answer them. As for if your requests will be fixed in the patch... I don't know. But you can wait like the rest of us have for our suggestions. If it doesn't appear in the next patch, raise the issues again.

To #5, it is easily possible to mod it. Increase the default recon. value of all land units by whatever factor you'd like.

I was somewhat surprised when I found that underwater cities had been implemented. Interestingly there is an important "major" "city" with the same name located somewhat differently.:) Personally, I prefer the CLIO setup which has one less province.

Perhaps this is why showing screenshots of Denmark have conveniently been sidestepped in the Developer Diaries showing Scandinavia, Germany and Britain.:mad:

With this issue off my chest I will the game an honest try.

The tutorial

... is brilliant!
When HOI III came out, I was very disappointed with the tutorials, which did not help me at all to understand the game (esp. the war & military stuff). Now, the Vicky 2 demo illustrates how a good tutorial is made.
Hail to Paradox for this (though little) detail of an upcoming great game!

I don't request anything, I am asking if they are going to do it. If they don't know yet - fair enough, simple answer "we don't know yet" would do.

I would be happy to raise rec, but I am guessing rec is not just for province ocupation, so it doesn't solve it. What I would rather prefer is to decrease the value province needs to be occupied. Thus, my question if it is possible to mod it.

The point is though, is not that we can't win (we can), but that it really shouldn't be such an ordeal.

Well it's not if you research any military techs at all and have a big enough army. And even with only 40k Troops its no trouble at all to overrun those Mexicans. You just need to have a little luck with the generals. I for one was unlucky tonight. I had only 3 generals that were of any use. The others all had stuff like -50% Moral or -4 Attack. Better even without any general at all...

Yes very impressive. I'm sold!

Getting the unwanted un-pausing problem big time not just when I go into the battle window. I hope sorting this is a priority for the first patch. Generally the Paradox engine interface would really be improved by having a button that paused but did not un-pause.

Mexico's only advantage is pure manpower (apparently Mexico is the China of the Victorian age), so you need large armies to break them, then split up and hunt and surround them until they die.

Keep an eye on Mexico's ability to field brigades through the ledger. If they start getting ahead of your, increase military spending. Should do the trick.

Translation in the Demo

Hello together!

I just wanted to ask if the translation in demo is already the final one.

I am asking because I tried German and there were some really strange
translations...

For example, we Germans call the "Georgia" in the USA "Georgia", while it
is translated as "Georgien", which would be the one in the Caucasus.

Thanks in advance!

Exactly. Mexico should not throw hundreds of thousands of troops at you. The system will make someone like Russia entirely unbeatable because they can just throw wave after wave after wave of huge doomstacks at you.

You're missing the point. It's not that it's hard, it's that their army is never-ending. Which is both entirely unhistorical, and a symptom of having negligible damage to soldier POPs. Yes, Mexico is still a bit of a pushover, but it shows signs of a problem with the war component of Vicky 2, namely that brigades can continue to be produced infinitely by any country, since manpower is never an issue.

I'm sorry if this was mentioned before, as going through 40 pages worth of posts seems a bit.. challenging.

It's about the technology Ideological Thought. In Vicky its inventions were bound to the party in power. As long as I don't miss something, this is no longer the case, as the base percentages aren't zero. Doesn't this make two thirds of the inventions irrelevant on the long term, as they cancel each other out?
It's not really important, as it, at the very least, adds flavor instead of just five positive inventions. It just confused me a bit.

In the special(?) case of the USA in the demo, the negative plurality inventions already fired, only netting you positive plurality. This was probably done for balancing to give the USA an immigration bonus, I assume?

While the game is most enjoyable, I'm a bit confused on the lack of impact a total war with mexico has on your country. One would expect that people would get quite unhappy with maximum taxation and massive recruitment actions, instead all popups I got were about the civil war, which seems a bit arbitrary too, shouldn't there be some revolts before it broke free? Not to mention that the south seems utterly incapable of raising troops.

It's not really important, as it, at the very least, adds flavor instead of just five positive inventions. It just confused me a bit.

Some of the inventions do have a 0% base chance and are only boosted by the relevent factors, e.g:
Code:
authoritarianism = {
	limit = { ideological_thought = 1 }
	chance = {
		base = 0
		modifier = {
			factor = 5
			ruling_party_ideology = reactionary
		}
	}
	effect = {
		plurality = -0.05
	}
}
