Alright, you've given me a lot to think about. I'll play a few more games and see how it goes before coming to any further conclusions. I appreciate the insights, thank you.
If it bothers you so much that other people have different preferences or things to discuss than what you find interesting just stay out of those threads. No one needs your bitchy responses.
the way I see it, the problem is not the gradual increase you get by slowly expanding your empire organically.
It's when you go to war and suddenly get a several systems, colonies and sectors in one go, often totally out of balance with what you already got.
THEN you will get a steep incline in expenses with very little to do about it except suffer for many years.
Previously, you could assign it all to a sector, hand it to a govenor and tell him: "Fix this and don't let it affect my core economy" (or the opposite, hand over your working core systems to a govenor while you babysit the new systems).
You just can't do that anymore.
But this isn't a preference or something to discuss. You have misunderstood the purpose and function of a mechanic, avoided the many other threads already written on the subject, claim that it's broken and ruining the game for you, and willfully ignoring the several people telling you that it's working fine. If you want to talk about what no-one needs, maybe start by considering this entire thread.
A lot of what I said does boil down to preference in game mechanics, so you're not entirely correct about that. I also couldn't miss all the aggressive comments about how I've misunderstood the penalty system, so yes, I've managed to comprehend that I didn't know enough about that. I have not willfully ignored any advice or piece of information. What pisses me off, though, are arrogant little shits who need to tell everyone they already knew. If you already knew, why not ignore this post and move on? That you find this thread uninteresting is not my problem.
You should maybe calm down a bit, you can disagree but insults are not the way to go
