Yes, I've had two ironman savefiles become corrupted like this.
Extremely annoying, as I spent a few hours on the second ironman file.
We all like to waste time, but not waste time with no reward.
Having a game "disappear" like this is very .... unrewarding.

You could have posted it and pretended it was the result of an excessive use of the “pillage capital” option and we would have believed you.

Yep, had the same thing. My irish run just died in 1513. Hate this so much, it went all so well -.-
It happened to a Twitch streamer I was watching last night. Pretty terrible if you ask me.
There is allready a post in the Bug Forum.
But this aside, not discovering a gamebreaking bug so obvious will not get PDX any sympathies to fans of the series.
And if its realy a problem with the transition from 1.31 to 1.31.1 its more problematic, it make it look like poor QA testing

Great Paradox, I guess in 1487 the world just gets nuked and humanity dies... Both backups are ruined and if I want to start the campaign again I need to go back at least 15 years. No I have no mods and no this is not from the previous patch. This is a run started on the hotfix launched yesterday and that suddenly when I want to boot the game up and play again it was like this.
Edit- Just wanted to remark that the save is from this version, like when I mean this version is the game got a hotfix yesterday and I started a new run on that hotfix. No cross-over happened whatsoever

So I tried to do Theodoro thing in Leviathan, got awful estate regency, birded once, then this THING happened. Does anybody had the same problem?

Oh, the guy birded. Did you too. It seems like it with the amount of backups saves.
It might be that if you alt F4 an ironman the save gets corrupted. It would obviously be really stupid, but at least we'd get a clearer idea.

Would be good if someone from the developers stepped in and this thread would be pinned as a warning until 1.31.2 arrives.

No, thats not the case. Its happening to a lot of people. We were running a multi-player game and at some point a player got disconnected due to his own internet connection and he had the same screen pop up when he was trying to reconnect. I tried re hosting and had the same result.

So I've started a game as France on Tuesday (1.31.0) and played 15-20 years without huge problems. All DLCs bought and active, no mods whatsoever. On Wednesday I continued that savegame on patch 1.31.1, played another evening session without problems. Now I have invested about 11 hours of real-life and 41 years ingame time into that campaign, crushed England and Burgundy into oblivion, everything without coalitions so far, integrated all my French vassals, completed 10 missions, have upgraded my 2 monuments, have 90+ favours with Castile and am ready to put a Valois heir on their throne and then this happens today when I try to resume the savegame:
The world is empty, France and all other countries don't exist anymore, starting the game automatically ends the game immediately Sorry for the screenshots being in German, but I think the problem should be clear.
Savegames attached in case anyone wants to look into this.

Yes I do bird sometimes. But I can assure you that this time I just closed the game and went to do something. When I decided to play the game again it was like this, you can even see I didn't bird since the game is at 14 September which was when I saved the game.
So maybe the bird is the cause but at least it wasn't related with crashing the game by itself
