I was trying to get mega structures in Stellaris. I am getting habitats pretty easy and I got the Master Builder perk. The only thing I need is the Mega Engineering technology, but it does not appear no matter of the time I keep playing. I want to know if I do something wrong. How is Mega Engineering showing up as technology?Maybe I made a mistake in the Empire building. The empire I created was one with a species who are intelligent, natural engineers, wasteful, non adaptive and quick learners. Fanatic materialist, egalitarian and with the civics technocracy and mechanist. Can somone help me with this?

PS: I apologise if I their are some flaws in my English

Battleships and Fortesses. Having master builders makes it more likely. Having any megastructure (FE ringworld etc) in your borders makes it vastly more likely.

I do not understand, I have five habitats I should have a 2000% chance of getting the mega engineering technology. Why is it not there?
I don't think habitats count.

Is that how it works? I read it as 25% as likely unless your engineering research leader has Expertise Voidcraft or is a Curator.

Hiding it behind defense stations 3 is a bit of a trap
It's a prerequisite for habitats anyway.

Do you have Zero Point Power?

Even with Zero Point Power, it took forever in one game to make it show up. And at that point I really needed another tech in the line up so I had to bypass it. Took a long time before it showed up again. They really could make the tech a bit more common.

Yeah, I think having it linked into the ascension tree, rather than being a prerequisite would be better.
