So, to be clear, one keeps any branch lagging behind and then he either gets that missing tech for free instantly or a +300%+bonus combo?

Oh, it also requires the refining of 36 and 37?

this does increase the demand quite a bit.
I like to research those in 39 as they're useless before you have 1 refinery.
Nope. You can see in my linked pics that I dont have any excav, oil refining, nor synth oil techs done. It was also 1939 and I didn't have any radar or any computing aside from the 1934 and 1936.

Yeah, I remember you helping me figure this out over on Reddit, I can confirm that if you have every current-year tech already researched you won't get any 10% bonuses. For Industrial blueprints, if you have all techs up to 1938 researched (radar, computing, industry, tools, synthetics, fuel refining) before you do any stealing (if you start in 37/8), you will always get the normal non-bugged 300%+1-2 years reduction.
I think it only matters with regards to techs that the country you're stealing from is also researching. If the country you steal from doesn't have excav, you don't need to research it either in order to get the bonus for other industry techs.

But like I said, I don't actually know what does cause the 10%.

(Maybe Jet Fighter's II Paradox is going to get busted this time, I'm not entirely sure!)
Bruh.

Just steal air tech from Tibet. Just from a naive calculation, I predict you get it in 1943 or earlier. 1945 is weaksauce.

The problem with Jets is that they don't belong to Air category. Nor do the engines they need first.

And getting a 1944 single-engine airframe alone is no problem (CAS focus, and you have it in 1942 just fine).

Ostensibly, it should be possible. I can only assume the game defaults to giving you categories = air_equipment, instead of any other category. Jet aircraft fall under categories = { light_air jet_aircraft }, but someone forgot to give it the category air_equipment. It should be able to give any tech bonus from folder = air_techs_folder, which obviously does include jet aircraft.

Nor do the engines they need first.
Yes, I can see this being a problem.

You can get it done earlier than that. 1940 easily. It requires tying up a research slot on them from 1936, but who cares. The point is to get jet fighter 2 as early as possible, not to play the game. If we were trying to play, then we wouldn't be getting jet fighter 2, as it's not signifiantly better than fighter 3. And it costs tungsten, which should all be funneled into tanks.

You don't get Engines before April-May 1941, so getting airframes before that is a waste anyway. Here's a snapshot from my Excel file that I use for calculating ahead-of-time penalties:

BXLG2J6.jpg

Well, you can chop-off a few more weeks by saving up to 30 days (which in fact will get cut to maybe 15 due to penalties) from other slots, and a few extra days from the double-computers I shared on the previous page (or not, since the table above assumes +42% from day 1 already, which is never the case), but that's it.

That said, I still need to test that Air Stealing. (Playing normally now).

The Agency is very effective. The Buildup for it I do from the first day on too to get the first 2 up to 3 Agents. Germany, Japan, USA and UK are at the moment the Best Countrys for Spy.

France, Italy and UdSSR the second best later on. And if you wanna have medium Tanks then you have to wait that Germany has done the Research for it. Normaly Mid / End 1937, latest 1938 it have done the Tank III-Research.

But we will get more implementations and many Refits for the Airforce / Army-Part and the Secret Weapons-Tech in the next Patches and DLC´s. So it´s atm only with reservation.

I'm still not getting how you guys do it with Air. Stealing Industry is far more straightforward and always works for me as long as I lack Refining while the others have it. For Air (Tibetian one included!), I keep getting random bonuses like this one. 10%, baby! Gonna help us a hell lot when we're facing a 1860% penalty!

Tried some quick stealing in a test run, and it goes just like in normal games: either they have something that I do not, and I steal just that (including carrier-planes), or they've got nothing and my loosy 10% comes.

I've also racked my brain over the game files and failed to find anything useful, aside from that if you do get that 'extra outcome' hit, it's 33% chance to get 2 years ahead of time bonus and 67% for 1 year (atop the 'normal' 300% speed bonus, which I never receive here).

Keep in mind, that if you have the Blueprint Stealing agency upgrade and two spies with the "safe cracker" trait, you will have 100% chance of getting that 1 or 2 year ahead of time penalty reduction. It's well worth it to reroll your spies until you get two of them.

Yes, it looks like that originally they made the spy results moddable, but then people complained spies only give a weak bonus and they rushed in code-only (so nothing in the moddable files in common), some very wierd solution.

The end result IMHO is far worse than the original. Now you have to steal techs from Butan, because if you steal from the UK you get punished as you will probably get some useless tech you don't want like Carrier Fighter 1936, while from Butan you always get a bonus you can apply on something you want.

Yeah, I got a laugh out of that guy. That was the same guy who was ranting about the existence of 40-width divisions in every single thread, whether it was on topic or not. I think it's good that we can fire our spies, but some of the other changes may have been for the worse.

I have read somewhere that, for industrial blueprints, as long as you have completed the machine tools, dispersed/concentrated, and construction tech that are on par with the current year, you wont get the 10% bonus (but the correct 2 year ahead bonus). Dont know if that is true or how the concept can be applied to air or other types of blueprints though.
