Havard, what do you mean most of them? are there any christian lithuanian dynasties at this time?

I was referring to Mindaugas, leader of the Lithuanians. He was baptized ~1251, and received a royal crown from Pope Innocent IV in 1252. At this time a bishop of Lithuania was appointed. He reverted to paganism about 1262 though...

10 years as christian? Well, lasted longer than I did :p

I guess Lithuania is out. So basically there is a pagan gap where Poland ends and Russia begins? IS Poland the frontier of catholicism?

It could be fun to play a polish dynasty ( possible? ) and force pagans to the true church by the sword :)

Or would it be more accurate for missonaries ?

In CK's era, it would be more accurate by the sword.

I.E, say King Aardvark of Something-or-Another wants to 'convert' the pagan province of Zzazista on his frontier. King Aardvark marches his mercenaries and feudal levies into the province and kills everyone who isn't a catholic!

This often causes depopulation, massive overnight conversions to christianity and an ensuing resettlement. Province then becomes culturally Ger-, I mean, Something-or-Anotheren for the next few hundred years =P.

But on a serious note. The best way to model conversions in CK is to simply make it automatically change to Catholicism (over perhaps some amount of time) and decrease the population by however much it was pagan before.

On a vaguely related note...The original Norman dynasty was very religiously tolerant of Islamic and Orthodox faith. In fact, they relied heavily on Islamic troops and forbade any attempts to convert them for their wars against the Papacy.

They probably didn't win much piety points, and the dynasty did die out, but converting a province to your own religion and culture shouldn't be an automatic decision.

As far as the depth of Grand Strategy go. Personally, I'm hoping that CK is to EUII what EUII is to Checkers :D

I'll be happy even if CK is to EUII what EUII is to EU. I still can't wait to see if I can re-establish Justianian's empire, and make it stick this time round. :)

I have just played MTW to death. It's an OK game. Micromanaging the Province builds becomes a real pain when your empire gets large. (and there is no build queue!) All those special units are painful too. I hope that the CK developers are having a good look at this game (although it may well be too late.) The game has many strengths including the fact that its turn based. There are some serious drawbacks too. Weak AI and non-existent diplomacy being the most obvious. The game features religion, revolts, civil wars and a whole host of other goodies. These have not been well integrated since even at expert level its way too easy to conquer the world. The tactical battle engine, even though its real time, is a good feature. I only use it when things are likely to be close using auto-resolve most of the time.

Still, I expect CK to turn more into Romance of Three Kingdoms meets Castles meets Europa Universalis, rather than M:TW :)

Sounds like a good combination. If CK has all the good elements of those game it will be great.:)

I played Medieval to death too and I can say that tactical mode is very good but strategical not. Diplomacy is not working. You can expect problems with only few provinces like Latvia, Scotlans and Portugal, which have mysteriously high rebel rating. Micromanagement is hell when game heads towards 3-4 great warmongers including you. In one game only England (me), Turkey, Sicillians and Almohads existed in 1180. I was forced to develop my continental provinces to meet their armies (I always build economy but not army and others).

So if micromanagment will be introduced to CK, option of issuing the same queue for almost all provs will be nice. Exclude only most important from this rule or pass micromanagement on vassals.
