It would be nice to see horses and carriages added to the game as a way of transport, just as castles, forts, medieval houses, barns, farmers markets and cobblestone roads & avenues (with oil lamps as street lights), Pedestrian-only streets, alley ways, irrigation canals and stone bridges, combined with a cultural aspect, for example: You could select your culture before you start building your city, to influence building styles for the traditional buildings (European, Ancient American, Mid Eastern or Asian). I could build a whole story for my city if I could just add a Historic / traditional district and build a more modern city around it. This is the way most cities in the world are built actually.

We could even have a set of new utility buildings to match for this expansion, and medieval industry buildings that pollute in their own ways (Grain windmills, for example, create bad noise pollution and ground vibrations, and sugar makers, breweries and farms would pollute with stench, and honey industry or beekeepers would pollute with bugs).

I'd personally rather see something more based around the start of the 20th Century, similar to what SimCity 2000 did. In it, certain buildings would be unlocked over time, after reaching certain years. Tropico's Modern Times DLC did something similar, although somewhat less integrated into the base game.

There is a challenge in making sure the residential/commercial/industrial buildings do look appropriate for the time-period, however the European-styled buildings do give a starting point. In fact, the fact that the first Cities in Motion allowed for playing in different time-periods of a city does indicate we may see something like this.

Otherwise, the Middle Ages are just too outside of a realistic scope for the game.

It would be nice to see horses and carriages...

I think I would enjoy that. I have seen some assets such as castles, windmills (the old grinding up flour kind), and other old buildings in the workshop.

Otherwise, the Middle Ages are just too outside of a realistic scope for the game.

I do believe this to be the case. I think medieval would be more than DLC; I think more like "Total Conversion". Just a bit too ambitious for the game.

Maybe "Banished" would suffice?

Don't get me wrong guys, i'm speaking of medieval style buildings: RHI & service buildings + roads. nothing more than that. The style of these old buidings would only be affected by the cultural choice. The modern buildings would not be affected, so I think it is feasable. Heck, SC3K had this function!
