Hello Everybody,

After a couple long days, we’ve got some more improvements made and some more features restored, which I am very happy to share with you. We are still running a few scripts (such as restoring reactions, developer posts, and profile/badge syncing), but are getting closer to the end here. So without further ado, here is a list of the new changes for the day

Bug Fixes

• Fixed the “frequently viewed nodes” section in the Node Navigation Modal to more accurately capture your most frequent nodes
• Fixed an issue with pagination not updating when filtering a thread by only dev posts
• Fixed a bug with selecting badges to show on postbit
• Fixed the issue with users being logged out, and remember me not working properly

Improvements

• Server improvement that will increase the performance of the forum
• New user preferences to disable certain aspects of the forum, including:
  • User preference to disable twitter widgets
  • User preference to disable game forum themes
  • User preference to disable new posts widget
• Added a tab on the “Watched” page to show unread watched threads
• Stylistic Improvements to the theme, including:
  • Changing the background color of sticky threads to more easily discern them
  • Fixed styling for the Threadmarks feature
• Mobile style improvements, including:
  • Removing the game card styling on forum list
  • Added pagination above content (top of page)
• Added a “new” flag to node titles when there are unread threads
• Added a “new” flag to thread titles when there are unread messages
• Restored the “Who Replied” feature for threads
• Added user banners for total badges and total products (Note: These numbers may be slightly inaccurate temporarily due to the profile sync script still running)
• Restored the “reactions given” page

Question, in the preferences, there is this option for style:

Paradox Classic is an option, but currently is..... well, in development it seems. Is it just a placeholder for something/an error, or is it a sneak peak into something fast coming our way?

Some feedback:

The gargantuan banners for game fora on the /forum/forums/ page are unhelpful and take away space that could be used either to list more fora or to list subfora for each game. I think anyone accessing the forum for games as fairly niche and text-heavy as PDS will be able to recognise the particular games' forum based on simply naming it for the game, so there's really no reason to insert humongous pictures.
Furthermore, thread height as seen in any subforum has been increased, which means (On my screen) that the CK2 forum for instance is a screen-full of stickies before I get to the non-stickied posts. That is poor design.
In addition, game fora has a large banner on top that is cumbersome and should be removed. Unlike the login feature, I won't suddenly forget where I am within a timespan of 10 minutes and need the banner to orient myself.
Subfora are inadequately marked. It took me a while to find them (Partly because I scrolled past all the inane clutter that you have added).
The right part of the /forum/forums/ main page and subfora ("Can't find what you need?" - links to buy games - members online etc.) cannot be disabled.
"Remember me" is still non-functioning.
Toggle width is not permanent, leaving absurd amounts of empty space around.

So far the update has been a setback for functionality and ease. I'm aware the software changes may offset that for you, bur as a user this has been a shitty experience and I frankly expected more to work or for the update to be delayed until you could get it to work. Suffering through an update that is worse on every visibly changed parameter is not taking good care of your customer base.

I have struck out the points I believe to have been fixed since.


A new one has appeared, though. On the /forum/forums/ main page, all fora are marked "new". I expect this is to signal new posts, but the impression from just the text is that the fora themselves are new. I would prefer if it could become clear that a forum or thread contains new posts in a less ambiguous way (E.g. by clearly bolding the font), and that would also require removing the gargantuan game fora banners on the /forum/forums/ page.

Thanks for the update. You're probably already aware of it but in case you're not: all threads are marked as containing developer posts (with the little yellow screwdriver + wrench icon) even those that are not.

Thank you for the continued work on improving the forums! There are still a bit of changes left to do and other features lost that you don't mention, such as user groups or forum-specific lists of moderators, but it is progressing.

Steady as she goes ... lovely to see the "see only developer posts" returning, buuuuuuuuut (I hate to be that guy)... When, for example, viewing the latest ck3 diary and filtering only by dev posts, it still shows the thread as having all the pages (in the previous iteration, the page count got reduced to only include dev posts). Worse, if I click on "next" assuming there are more dev posts than the first page shows, it returns to the default thread view. Please fix.

Would it be possible to get the old feature back where you can have the game forum themes set as default across the entire fora? I.e. if you so desire you can have all fora have the EU or the CK style, for example.

Restored the “Who Replied” feature for threads

Many, many, many thanks for this too. Really appreciate having it back.
it is missing posts from old threads, though. For instance if you take a look at the linked thread then doing who replied gives nothing. Though that bug existed before teh upgrade too. It stems back tot eh 2015 migration from vBul to Xenforo. Posts from befroe that aren't counted in who replied, despite how who replied existed before the migration. No idea if it's possible to fix it, and in any case it works for newer posts.

I don't see any plaques above people's icons. Are they just not visible yet, or have they been put somewhere else than at people's icons?

So do I and most posts from the same period, it is likely the same for everyone.

What does that mean? I..e what's the new posts widget?

The small "New" icon next to every new post, I presume.

Yeah, I was also wondering about that. The update said they were added - do we need to enable them somehow?

Do you have an approximate timeline on the icon number fix?

I'm still missing an owned item... so i'm curious

Also, will the La Resistance (HoI4) and Magna Graecia (Imperator) icons be fixed by that time? and the missing Federations (Stellaris) one be added?

The forum is finally looking really great including dev-posts colouring.

I would however, apprieciate a "hide thread" feature.

So I don't have to scroll down that much till i get through all the sticky threads, in which im not interested.

There is already one such feature: click the little up arrow ˄ shown at the far right of the STICKY THREADS title. This will collapse the entire sticky thread section. The setting appears to be remembered on a per-forum basis.

Ye but i dont want to hide all sticky threads. Only the one I dont want to see.
