Q#5) If you send to many merchants (normally at one time) to another countries CoT there is a chance that they will ban you. For your question about relations yes is does effect the relations of the countries that you bump down/out. Each time you lower there presence by 1 merchant your relations with them drop by 5.
No it will not effect your BB.
Q#6) Trading Posts are not a complete waste of time. They send money to your CoT. They "claim land" as you indicated. In my opinion don't go higher than a level 2 traading post. I don't think your BB goes up when you burn a trading post.
Q#7) Just the North & Western side
Q#8) There a re 2 files for every saved game. You have to go into
the saved game file in the EU folder on your hardrive and delete them from there. Remember to leave the 2 files alone for the game you want to keep. Fortunatley they are always next to each other.

Q#10) Most of the time yes , but just watch the bar indicater to see how you are doing. Also the # of people left in the garrison is a proximation on how far along you are.
Q#11) Not really. Just remember to adjust your religious slider to accomidate the religions while you recover from your dstability hit.
Q#12)For a newbie you seem to be doing just fine. Don't worry to much about VP. After another game or two you will realize that those points (especially missions) are not worth your time.
