As I was playing a Spanish count, one of my characters had only one daughter. I was able to marry her matrilineally (got lucky with previous generations being married off to Dukes and even Kings, upping my prestige) to a Spanish Duke who was heir to the Duchy of Asturias and had a weak claim to the Duchy of Brittany.
Suddenly, the Duke of Brittany dies and my son-in-law inherits the title, taking his wife (my daughter) with him. Fair enough, as they have a 3 sons and 2 daughters of their own and they are technically part of my dynasty and happy to see them expand the family.
After a couple of years, my count dies and I become the Countess of Albarracin (my county) with a claim to the Duchy of Mallorca and Aragon as well through my mother. At this point, everything gets confusing. My new female character returns to Albarracin as my main dynasty character, but non of her children do (at this point, only 4), instead staying in Brittany and leaving me powerless to appoint tutor and marriages. The only one I can control is the last one, who was born after she became my main character. First question, why do most of my children have one liege and the rest the other?
Shortly after, my husband dies, elevating my oldest son to Duke of Brittany and I remain Countess of Albarracin with an Agnatic-Cognatic succession law and leaving my Duke son as my heir as well. Now is when s*^t hits the fan. My heir jumps from to my oldest daughter (oldest of all), to my second son and my third one as well (the one born in Albarracin). Finally, it tells me that my new heir is my new grandson, the second son of the Duke of Brittany, completely ignoring all my sons in the process. Second question, how did this happen!?!?! Shouldn't my heir be the Duke of Brittany, and if not, one of MY sons, instead of my grandsons?
Any input will be appreciated.
P.S. Succession right now is A-C Primo, established my countess being now the Duchess of Mallorca and Aragon.
