Hi all:

I'm playing version 1.06b from Steam with the latest CK2Plus. In every game I play, at some point I'll have a queen (Cognatic Primogeniture) and I'll marry her to a fellow "matrilineally". Now, as I understand matrilineal marriage, the groom joins the queen's dynasty and any kids from the union are of the queen's dynasty.

It never works. We'll marry, he'll stay with his old dynasty, and the kids will be of his dynasty. My kingdom will be thrown into chaos because the heir is of a different dynasty.

Is this a bug? I ALWAYS click 'matrilineal'.

On a side note, can anyone tell me how to fix this temporarily in a saved game file? I have a GREAT game going on and don't want to let it fall to pieces because of this bug.

Is the marriage matrilineal in the character information?

Have you also checked to see if there is an issue with the mod you are using? It is hard to reproduce such errors because not everyone uses the same mods.

Is the marriage matrilineal in the character information?

When you say 'in the character information' - what do you mean exactly? Where can I find it?

Was there a betrothal before and did you accept the betrothal request and not read it properly?

This is very possible! My Queen was 16 and the groom was 14 so I established it as a betrothal. I was sure to click 'matrilineal marriage'. But when he turned 16 and the marriage event fired, I just clicked yes without reading it. Is it possible for the event to fire as a REGULAR marriage, even if the betrothal was matrilineal? If yes, how dangerous! How can I check? Somewhere in the saved game file?

Have you also checked to see if there is an issue with the mod you are using? It is hard to reproduce such errors because not everyone uses the same mods.

I checked; according to the CK2Plus bug report, this is not a known issue. CK2Plus/CK2+ is one of the largest mods around, maybe the largest. It has its own subsection. I would've expected more people to have this bug.

Finally, does anyone know how to fix this in a saved game file, if it is a bug?

The wedding rings under your spouse says how they are married.

The AI will always request their preferred marriage after a betrothal regardless of the agreement. You should ignore theirs and click the rings and heart and send your own request with you preferred marriage.

Needless to say this is a disaster. I'd like to try and fix this in my saved game file -- how? -- otherwise I'll have to RP my way out of it.

This is how martrilinage marriages are shown in the save game, this would appear after rel_<char_id(father)>={}.

You would also have to change the dynasty of all you children.

Best way is to hope you had a save game to fall back on.
