Traits have effect on ai behavior, not only on relation/opinion. Look at traits.txt there are a lot of traits with ai modifier. So your spymaster may have +50 opintion of you, that will not stop him from assassinating you.

Yep.

I already pointed out in earlier threads that my brother, who loves me at +100 relations, and who I made a duke, will still plot to take me out if he has the right traits. Relations have an indirect impact on plotting and revolts, but it's by no means the sole arbiter. You will have to learn this one way or another as you play. I had to learn it the hard way several times before the lesson sunk in; if it wasn't for the kinslayer trait, I'd probably just kill those closest to me when convenient. :)

I actually married my lowborn marshal to the kaisers princess and the game mecanics didnt let me marrythem (not that it was a condition from the kaiser, the tooltip said "A high title female will never marry anything but a matrilinear marriage." So of he went to the kaisers court

I had an invited 23 Marshal who was doing well and wanted to be married. I selected a courtier from the list (he took a prestige penalty), but then off he went with her and a tooltip saying children would be of her dynasty - did the Count pull a switcheroo or did I just not pay attention and "only matrilinear" was in the text somewhere?

I'm not an expert on matrilineal marriages. I didn't imagine they happened very often in medieval Europe. Did they?
Early in the period they didn't happen at all. The concept of "dynasty" wasn't well-developed, so the idea that a King would be pissed if his daughter's son inherited, unless that son took his name, wasn't really something they thought of.

Where they appeared it was typically because a prominent lineage was actually about to die out, or a title associated with an actual family name was about to leave the family. Nobody wanted to call the 6th Baron Percy, Lord Louvain, after all.

But since CK2 has to include a lose condition, which has to be tied to who inherits the throne, you pretty have to use dynasties. Even if they make little sense for an 11th century King. And if you;re using anachronistic dynasties, you have to give the human player a way out of the bind of having only daughters, which means you absolutely have to have matrilineal marriages.

Hearts of Iron series omit BIG events that we're not allowed to speak here, in order to appease modern sensibility. I believe Paradox already has made their choice about the matter so it's only sensible to carry that over, instead of selectively avoiding some kinds of discrimination while harboring some.

Psst....his name was Voldemort.

Hey another example that will be in the game. Kingdom of Georgia. After the death of Thamar in 1212 she was succeeded by her son Giorgi and then her daughter Rusudan (married to a converted Selkuk prince) when she died Georgia was partitioned between her son and Giorgi's - both named David and both carrying the Bagrationi dynastic name.

You also have to give human players dynasties as they need something to strive for during the entire period. Making one's dynasty strong and making sure it propagates is a pretty good thing to strive for.
