Masters & Commanders
A UK CO-OP AAR
Good afternoon gentlemen and ladies, welcome to my new AAR...
It is probably quite easy to deduce certain things from the title of this AAR a few things on how it will be structured. This is quite obviously meant to be a CO-OP where we shall lead the Empire to victory... or ignominy, but more subtlety it can be seen that I have been reading Andrew Roberts very good Masters and Commanders Check it here. It is with this insight in mind that has shaped how this AAR shall run.
I am sad to say that I think that this First UK Co-operative AAR! is now dead and so want to re-create the best parts, but also want to go much quicker than that one did (the play took longer than a day-by-day approach would have, I think).
I will be looking to play a month of game time per week, although maybe more game time before the war and sorter periods during it.
Some sort of political crisis has presented itself in the later stages of 1935 and the King has called for a government of national unity based around the independent Peer, Sir Clive Wolfe, Lord of Singapore. He is currently struggling to balance a truly national government and looks to new faces from across the political spectrum to build up a 'ministry of all the talents'. Thus he has put out feelers to you, the readers of AARland to help him.
Lord Wolfe's government shall be quite centralised, but he is willing to defer to specialists on many issues, and this is how to country will be run;
There will be two overall groups which shall lead the country, the Cabinet (political Masters) and the Committee of Imperial Defence (military Commanders) and the dynamic between these two will run the day to day affairs of the country.
Committee of Imperial Defence
This will be made up of the First Sea Lord & Chief of the Naval Staff (Chief of the Navy) , Chief of the General staff (Chief of the Army) and the Chief of the Air Staff (Chief of the Air Force) and will be chaired by one of the three who will be CIGS (Chief of the Imperial General Staff or just Chief of Staff in HOI III parlance). They will meat with the PM and will be responsible for general military strategy and giving 'recommendations' on production and technology.
The Cabinet
This will be primarily made up of the PM (me) and including, but not limited to, the Chancellor (armments minister), Foreign Minister, Home office (Minister of Security). Other ministerial posts shall also be created if there are is enought people interested in this project. Any political 'war ministers' such as the Secretary of State for War, Secretary of State for Air an the First Lord of the Admiralty will, if needed, be those in the Committee of Imperial Defence, so as not to muddy the waters. The cabinet will chaired by the PM, but will defer decisions to the 'specialists', ie. foreign affairs will be delegated largely to the Foreign Minister, with cabinet approval etc...
So I now ask that people post their characters, some facts about them, their general 'personality', preferred position and HOI traits... to start off I shall post Sir Clive's bio
