Lamia at a glance: Victor and Maximilian Venizelos
Curiosity, intrigue and in some cases even dread surrounds the heirs of King Niketas Venizelos. Generally shielded from the public realm bits and pieces of information have been revealed over the years painting an image of what might be in store for the Lamian Kingdom in the eventual death of His Majesty the King.
Victor Venizelos as the eldest stands to be the next to take the reins of government. Classified as an extrovert he somewhat resembles the father in terms of leadership. With the belief of ruling with an iron fist he, however, is not stubborn like his father and has shown surprising amounts of pragmatism when no other choice is present. Charismatic and described by many as a potentially better leader than his father ever could be, he toured a brief stint in the military, serving for two years at the age of 23. During that time he did not see any real combat. While an average student in school he used his father’s influence to advance and some say receive high marks. Luckily he improved academically by the time he stepped into higher education. Victor had a profound interest in the other species of the galaxy being one of the few in Lamia to not have a negative opinion about any of the races, Skaven included. After attending Ajax’s leading university he received a master’s degree in both Philosophy and Inter-Galactic Politics. Unable to indulge in any stable relationship Victor has no significant other, not officially with rumors of addictions to drugs, alcohol and being a masochist. In reality when it comes to drugs he kicked the habit but only after two violent withdrawals. His drinking is sorely a work in progress. He also traveled extensively abroad with a few embarrassing scandals over the years from drunken brawls to nudist forays in public. Despite his lack of popularity owing to his life-style and being a relative unknown, the eldest son relishes the idea to lead the nation. While any sense of a sibling rivalry remains speculation, Victor does indeed have decent relations with his brother due to their correspondence over the years and the occasional public appearances during the affairs of the state. However, the same cannot be said with his father. Highly affected by the divorce of his parents which occurred when he was at the age of 12, Victor has a large degree of malcontent towards his father. Currently he resides in the lush world of Ajax overseeing a regional ministry specializing in infrastructure and administration. As a testament to his volatile relationship, he has not been in Thessalia in more than 8 years. And then there’s the spare heir.
Maximilian Venizelos is considered an introvert. Unlike his older brother whom enjoyed his stints of partying and socializing among the rich and powerful, Maximilian although highly intelligent is socially awkward. Cutting away from his brother and father, he has a deep hatred for politics while having a rather strong disdain for the lower classes. It is even rumored that he is a sadist with several unconfirmed reports of a rap sheet on file with various law enforcement agencies in Thessalia. Despite these glaring short comings he has a deep love for science: Astronomy, Geoscience, Sociology and Psychology especially. Although he never attended university aptitude tests show he would be able to enroll in even the most prestigious and demanding of schools. Usually an eloquent speaker, when asked about potentially ruling Maximilian, or Maxxy as some in the family call him, absolutely disgusts it. There is speculation that his hatred for such a prospect is so great that he would go so far as to abdicate to avoid the responsibility. Given the chance he would rather be a lead researcher in his own scientific organization dedicated to several fields, some orthodox others less so. Owing to having a decent relationship with Victor, he respects his brother though only due to their shared intelligence. While his father rules he spends his days being a book worm with the curious visitations to the ruins of the city of Corinth, no one knows why he goes there but he uses his father’s credentials to get past the military cordons around the devastated city, spending hours observing the gutted buildings and even walking inside them.
