Rising Stars in Celtic Politics
With the landscape rapidly changing, several new people move in to fill the gaps left by those who, unfortunately, left Celtic politics far too early.
Deputy-Uachtaran Roisin Amagh
The de facto leader of the Celtic Workers Party (which officially is a leaderless, totally democratic party), Amagh is a vicious, cutthroat politician almost to the degree of au hAillin herself. Growing up in the equally savage Dublin slums, she avoided being roped into gang culture through association with socialist unionist organisations. By the age of 16, she had been arrested twice for participation in outlawed organisations. She was 24 when the Civil War broke out, and swore allegiance to the Republicans immediately, hoping to dismantle the establishment board by board. However, she soon became dismayed at the abuses of power by the Republican forces, notably the public executions of prisoners of war (whom she saw as conscripts who were not at fault) and the blind worship of General Casey, who seemed ambivalent about the suffering of the common Celt, and by the end of the war had abandoned her post. Joining the CWP and contesting her local senate seat, she was extremely surprised to win and even more surprised that her views were taken seriously by her colleagues. With the landscape rapidly changing, several new people move in to fill the gaps left by those who, unfortunately, left Celtic politics far too early.
Deputy-Uachtaran Roisin Amagh
Her rise to leadership began after the Communist faction of the party tried to have the party issue a statement of support for the communist People's Republic of Terra - which she, along with others, said ignored their clear oppression of the common worker and their perversion of the socialist cause. She opted instead to champion the ideology of Syndicalism, a less authoritarian, far more democratic brand of leftism that had the goal of creating a federation of small, entirely democratic worker's councils and trade unions, which had all the liberties associated with the Republic. After a quiet and swift challenge, Amagh was recognised as the leader of the Syndicalist faction and the CWP as a whole. She came to a special prominence following the Whiskey Strikes, of which she was a vocal sympathiser for - and quickly after accepted au hAillin's offer of coalition out of opportunism, after the collapse of the "Grand Coalition". She was appointed as Deputy-Uachtaran, a move which was less out of respect and more to limit her by giving her a powerless office, but Amagh nonetheless is expected to only rise higher as the term reaches it's conclusion.
Aimireil Siobahn ail Cybrian
When Saoirse au hAillin graduated from flight school, she was third in her class. The first was a rather insignificant noble's son who died in a hunting accident a few weeks later, and in second was ail Cybrian. Remembered by her classmates as a quiet and humble woman who only wanted to serve her country, she was quickly entered into a fast track training programme into the Celtic Naval Officership, where she had a sudden spurt of ambition that lead to her climbing the ranks. She gave a citation for her friend au hAillin to be allowed to join the Navy as a Commodore, as au hAillin's application had been repeatedly blocked by her father, who was embarrassed by having his bastard daughter serve him. Their close friendship was well known, and was one of au hAillin's highest officers during the mutiny and the Civil War, though did not follow her out of personal loyalty, but rather loyalty to the state. In her own words, "My duty is to the Celts and my fight with those that threaten them - Not to my King and not to my President", and she was known to lack political motivations outside of the Navy - something which probably helped her career push to Admiral as the Senate was torn between various Republican and Royalist leaders, before eventually ending on the (if you didn't count her association with Saoirse) neutral ail Cybrian. She is a capable commander, known for her cautious, less aggressive approach to war which, while not exactly lending itself to heroics, made her dependable and a favourite in the Navy.
Rumours of exactly how close her relationship to the Uachtaran is denied as mudslinging by jealous rivals, and should be ignored as such.
Owain Lozac'h
Initially an "up and coming talent" scouted by the Cosmopolitan Party as a Policy Advisor to bulk out their staff for the Ministry of Agriculture, he was eventually internally transferred to the Foreign Ministry when his predecessor left after a resignation bluff gone sour. Llywellyn, at the time the Chief Whip, saw his potential and offered him a job in the far more lucrative Haillnist Party - as it turned out, the job offer was just an attempt to get some political intelligence on his rivals in the Cosmopolitans which, unfortunately for Owain, he didn't have. Giving him a chance to prove himself, Llywellyn told him to "form close connections with the Baekdu foreign ministry" during a Celtic New Year celebration, attended by the Baekdu Hahm Jeemin, which was more accurately described by Owain as "pimping him out". Unluckily for Owain, he was interrupted in his foolproof and masterful seduction by a slap to the face from another, slightly older Baekdu dignitary, and in punishment was given a harmless, boring job in a Foreign Affairs sub-office. A year later, Llywellyn, needing someone to act as his messenger in negotiations with the Republicans and the CWP, conscripted Owain again, which this time he managed to be successful at. In return, Llywellyn gave him the job of Director of Communications for the Foreign Office, a powerful position which would eventually lend itself to more power in the coming months...
