Well there's no way in hell my laptop is playing this game, minus one customer for Paradox
Sorry, but there's no way that a poor man like me is going to spend a grand on a new comp just for a new game. EUII rules anyway, so I won't miss it.
6200 supportsjdrou said:Sounds like it's a pretty new item so there probably aren't many (if any) available yet. I'd just wait until EU3 is closer to release and see what's available then. If you must have a new card now look for a GeForce FX 5500 or 6200; they're probably cheaper and still support PS 2.0.

Turn based?Carewolf2 said:The problem is the realistic expectations. This game has the 3D graphics of a game from 2001, thus I expect to run perfectly on a machine from 2003.
It seems completely illogical to have:
1. A turn based strategy game
2. Nice, but average graphics
3. Have a hardware requirements like that of TES4: Oblivion.
Wtbrg said:Sorry to stir this old topic, but if you only have a PCI system and want Pixel Shader version 3, there is a new most powerful P.C.I. card:

Geforce 5600 is about 1600M/s fill rate
Radeon X1300 is about 1800M/s fill rate.
A nice choice for EU3 I'm sure.
Games from 2001 wouldn't use PS 2.0.Carewolf2 said:The problem is the realistic expectations. This game has the 3D graphics of a game from 2001, thus I expect to run perfectly on a machine from 2003.
Bodders said:I went for a 256 meg Geforce 6200 as I only have PCI. I guess that's a bit slower then the 5600 but will still be perfectly adequate for EU3 I'm sure.
Hmmm....I guess maybe I should log a bug on the continuous play I'm experiencing with my beta version?ComradeOm said:You mean that you haven't heard?![]()
He's saying that it looks like a game from 2001. Using new features like PS 1.4 or PS 2.0 doesn't necessarily mean the game looks better.Sindai said:Games from 2001 wouldn't use PS 2.0.![]()
Wtbrg said:It looks like 6200 is 1.4m/s as opposed to 5600's 1.6m/s. So tell me, what were you using before? Can you see an improvement?![]()

Carewolf2 said:It didn't need to, to get the same results. This is what I mean. The game is nice looking, but it is not using the required graphics power to do anything extraordinary.
rsobota said:I'm kinda bumping a very old thread, but still I have an important question:
Not many concerns with graphic cards now that I upgraded mine, but how many RAM will EU3 need to be played without lagging, that is, "satisfactorly"?
That isn't even that outrageous; I've seen ads for 750W power supplies for gaming PCs.Duuk said:And a real man would have at least a 900W power supply in it.
1-2GB may be standard on gaming PCs but if you buy a typical PC off the shelf it will probably still have 512MB or even 256. And I would expect that EU3 will probably run with 256; you won't enjoy it but it will run. The minimum supported (i.e. stated on the packaging) will probably be 512MB though. Anyone with more than a passing interest in gaming should really have at least 1 Gig in their PC by now. Even moreso in laptops since the penalty for running out of physical RAM is more severe because of the slower hard drive. Even current Paradox games benefit from having more than 512MB.Side note: Common sense would say at least 512 since that has been "standard" on PCs for 3 years and 1-2G is standard on newer machines.
