Hi,

So I'm playing as England/UK (Ironman) and have annexed Vlaanderen. After a while a massive rebel 350k stack of Flemish rebels appeared (from over the border I think) and started seiging my provinces (ineffectually). Eventually, the stack took London, so I caved in and accepted their demands to create Flanders.

Flanders was duly created, but the London rebel stack remains. Except now it doesn't seem to have any demands - it's just sitting their denying me my capital city (and apparently not suffering any attrition).

Is there anything I can do? Or is my ironman game borked?

Wow.

Well my honest suggestion for you would be to wait the next patch. There is lots of borked rebel behavior, and I doubt they aren´t being looked at. They should, at least.

But how the hell so many spawned? They came from provinces already occupied by rebels?

Yeah - the rebels were slowly building up in neighbouring Ghent. It wasn't my problem until they crossed over though. Always the problem with ironman games - bugs can really ruin your day (week/month!)

10% of the inhabitants from the low countries in the timeframe as one army... that's a real revolt. :D

It's the large rebellions of more than 100% of the population on small islands that are a pain and an absurdity. Tough to deal with with the mercenary cap - can't just land wave after human wave to wear them down until you run out of money. That the fortification and garrison practices that work to deter or contain revolt in reality are foolhardy in game does not help things.

Some men just want to watch the world burn. Presumably this horde is led by the Joker.

Honestly though, I wish rebels with 'no demands' would adopt some default demand, like a prestige hit or something, just to prevent silly situations like this.

It's because since those aren't your rebels (you said they spawned in a neighboring country) you technically never accepted their demands. Only the country they spawned in can give them what they want.

In this case, maybe there should be a 'repatriation' demand - if you accept, they are teleported to whichever country they have a grievance against.

Or they could add a rebel system that actually makes sense, instead of the current 'if you're not with us you're against us' policy, and the 'most of the people in this region are part of our army, but we can't claim borders and forge alliances' policy.

in future, send a diplomat to their country to support rebels for a month if they cross your border. They will promptly turn around and go home. You can withdraw the support next month
