Ok i got to say i am SO frustrated right now, every time i get in to a war and i am not the war leader, the ai totaly ignores any wargoals i add when they make peace.
It makes it basicly pointless to get involved in any bigger war when i am not the war leader.
Sometimes i can peace out seperately sometimes not, i never understood how that works but if i cant i am screwed.
I wouldent mind so much if i had the option to continue the war on my own to enforce my wargoals but that is simply not an option.
I also found myself in a situation where some other ai got in to the war and then peaced out, giving away some of my colonies even though i could have won the war on my own, once again i dont mind the selling their allies out so much but the fact that i have no option but to accept pisses me off to no end.

I dont even know why i am writing this, guess i just have to get this out of my system.

1 of the many reasons why you converge with your forces at juicy targets to finish the wars quickly. If the war you're in has taken more than a year you havn't done it right, unless you're defending versus the rest of the world and pulling out a white peace from everyone. That is a lot of fun btw ;)

I've had my added war goals enforced in a peace deal by the AI, including once when the AI didn't get it's original goal. I'm guessing the AI estimated the original goal wasn't going to happen, and settled for the victory of my smaller goals. It helps if you've already achieved them (occupied the territory in question, etc).

Similar issue when player is leader of alliance, AI do massive job for him (for example RUS or GB), and player make peace without giving any wargoal from their ally:)

Exactly. I was playing Germany and I was allied to the U.S. The U.S. declared war on Mexico for some Mexican region... I added a wargoal for two Mexican regions and peaced out with the U.S. getting nothing.

Unless the whole WS calculation is reworked from the ground or we get some sort of "peace negotiation" feature, the leader will always be able to exploit the heck out of a war.
So do not add wargoals to a war where you are not warleader.
Or do it at your own risk - and don't complain about getting nothing. ;)

This used to be a much bigger problem in AHD than in HoD, I think. I'm finding nowadays the AI will go to much greater length to accomplish everybody's goals instead of just their own, especially with the new patch. I've only been peacedeal screwed a few times in HoD and only when I added really absurd goals or an absurd amount of goals.

A bigger problem I've noticed is that if there are too many allies, they all start adding stupid goals which dilutes the peace process. When 7 nations gang up on Austria, and 5 of them add Cut Down to Size goals, and 4 of them also add Humiliate goals, and then I don't get my small and reasonable core territory demand, I facepalm a little.

Funny thing is that the AI thinks like that when you are winning, but when they are being beaten to hell but have the most unlikely chance to recover, they will stay in the war until they get what they want.

I've seen NGF warring France and Austria at the same time, having the entire Rhineland and surroundings dominated while they were busy occupying Austria. Austria had no chance, but wouldn't surrender, apparently. France even added Aquire Pommern and kept pushing. They had western Hungary, Bohemia and Austria occupied, but only when Russia declared their own war to acquire polish lands AND had the eastern half of the country occupied is when Austria Capitulated to NGF. Then, almost a whole year of occupation later, Germans came back from their southern vacations and kicked French ass, and even occuppied half of France in the process, adding there another half year. (yet, surprisingly, not acquiring Alsace-Lorraine. It made me die a little inside.)

AI is very very patient when it feels that it can win the war. But they don't seem to understand when YOU can win the war for them.

But then again, how many times have you screwed over some AI's stupid wargoal? Maybe it's just plain spite. :D

I think this is as peter64 said completely realistic. Why the hell does the AI want to make yyou more powerful?

Heck if the AI thinks that you getting this goal won't affect it in any way they do from my experience try to get your settlement. But I have learned to head straight for the land I want and occupy rather than actually try to fight the foe till they are on their back, unless I am the war leader in which case I will take everything you own!

You guys can be jerks. I always fulfill AI ally wargoals (provided they don't oppose my interests). :D

When i start the war and call in a bigger power to assist, having them add new wargoals and ignoring mine is annoying, had it been a war were we were all involved from the getgo and i get ignored then id understand but yeh... maybe the system of who is warleader needs to be altered slightly to who initiated things unless the differences in power between those involved is significantly different.

I remember playing a Greece game, russia accepted to help for my wargoal against the OE. Russia continued without adding any wargoals, and so I let my ally Serbia in on the war and they added a wargoal. Next thing I know war ends with Serbia getting its wargoal and im left with nothing after initiating the war. One of the good ole facepalm elbow-to-desk moments

What about when the AI makes a peace deal that invalidates the point of the war, which keeps running for three more years? In this case, Britain backed Iraqi independence, and a crisis war started over it. two years latter Britain agrees to the Ottoman's turns (giving up on Iraq), but the war goes on for three more years, sitting with the UK having about 50% warscore and no goals added.

Exactly. I was playing Germany and I was allied to the U.S. The U.S. declared war on Mexico for some Mexican region... I added a wargoal for two Mexican regions and peaced out with the U.S. getting nothing.

You're playing singleplayer and exploiting the system. None's forcing you to do this and abuse the AI, you can be fair and give the AI their own share. Exploiting the mechanics to the maximum and then complaining about it... post a bug report if you think it's not WAD.

Last night playing Russia, allied with France, I was in a great war against Germany/UK. By the end of the war, the Ottoman Empire had added 6 wargoals to dismantle constructions in Canada. Thanks for your contribution, Ottomans.
