Is it true though ? Do battles really stop at night ingame ?
Because if they don't you get +50% bonus about from around third to about half of the time, which is potentially huge. It would practically increase holding time by around 30%(just guessing though), which would be useful for preventing breakthroughs

"Very little", not "nothing". There is fighting at night, but it's got massive attack penalties, so hardly anyone actually dies.

GBP: +10% defence, -10% supply consumption, +50% night battle, +0.1 recon, +10% inf org
MM: +2% reinforcement, -0.4 inf combat width +0.3 inf recovery rate, +5% pop recruitable, 10 inf org (and org on others you probably won't have).
For countries with large manpower pools, MM looks pretty good to me. I'm seeing Russia taking that and burying the Germans in Infantry units.

The combat width bonus is nicely synergistic with the reinforcements as well as the higher recruitable pop. The ORG bonus is going to be big for keeping the fight going (remember Daniel taking away support brigades to increase his ORG?).

I certainly wouldn't take it for every nation, but it looks quite nice for some. :)

I agree, and in my opinion it seems like this doctrine tree is more powerful than GBP

I'd say that each of them seems like it will be better for different nations.

If you don't have a large enough manpower base, GBP will be better.

If you have a big manpower base, MM will be better.

Of course, we won't know for sure until D-Day. :)

In the latest WWW, Daniel seems to be taking the mass mobilisation doctrine in order to make the most of his manpower.

It might be a good way to make the most of a small country, while if you're playing an industrialised country with lots of manpower you might not be particularly worried about running out.

The night time attack bonus nearly removes the penalty for nighttime attacks so you can hit them very hard in the night and have a easier time during the day due to reduced strength of the opposition by your night attack.

+2% reinforce chance and the out of supply bonuses seem very meager in comparison to what other doctrines are getting. Unless the tree gives armies some serious supply capacity boost in general to the tune of +50% (because i guess otherwise you anyway cannot leverage your numbers without attritioning the hell out of yourself), then I guess it's total crap and not used except for flavour. :)

Anyway, we already know the doctrine was nerfed (reinforce chance in diary 20 was +10%) and considering how the purges are handled i cant say I would be very optimistic.

As with everything else it is subject for balance changes at the moment. We have to wait and see...and then expect things to be changed in later patches.
The game is months in development... that's practically released! What do you mean it's not perfectly balanced already? Besides, it's not like PDS has ever released patches that effect game balance. Name me one, I dare you!

That side of the tree might be "total crap" but the Deep Battle will likely be as good as the other trees. Deep Battle is supposed to be a "proper" doctrine path, Mass Mobilisation is specific stated in the doctrine Dev Diary as
You may notice from the image that the Mass Mobilisation path is shorter than the others. This is because it's more of a series of stopgap measures for nations in dire straits than a real doctrine, and we want to encourage nations to swap out of it when/if their situation improves.

Well I actually thought using Mass Assault with Italy. Because I will expect that I will not have enough resources to keep my Italian cohorts in top gear (although I will try!) but maintaining large army is much easier. And maybe I can unlock interesting options when building up armies.

I will expect casualties but there is no price for the New Roman Empire.
