I like pairing up the courtiers already in my court for no reason.

Yes, this is an element of role-play that comes part and parcel with the fairly open mechanics in the game. I don't have many hours clocked - still trying to learn - but I think it would be fun to play differently sometimes, and maybe once be a ruler totally into the minutiae of their court and sometimes not. I am enjoying this game.

Be aware that a court above thirty reduces reproduction/birth rate.

At the early start it might be usefull, but later on its better you keep only your dynasty members in your court.
As mentioned you will get auto-generated nobles anyway, but usually much more females than males.
It's fun though and i like to keep some other dynasties alive and see how it goes.

You can more easily marry off count members, by doing diplomacy with yourself -> arrange marriage. That let you marry only within your court, and will list all your courtiers on one side, but only opposite sex courtiers once one is chosen for the other.

Generally however I don't marry off courtiers unless one is getting land as well. The women can also be useful for an occasional +15 bonus marrying to some count or doge.

I would also like the option to banish the imbeciles, inbreds and other bad random court members the game occasionally foists on you (no, seriously, why do I have a random imbecile in my court, taking up space my kids need to reproduce?).

Another reason to do it is to get the easy +15 relation for fulfilling their marriage wish.

You don't need to marry your courtiers. In fact, I advise you don't - I'm actually addicted to being matchmaker, marrying off the "right" people to each other (or, if they're bad, nasty people, I marry them off to someone horrible).
I do this too! And as punishment I sometimes 'banish' courtiers by entering them into a matrilineal marriage to some random lady in another court, or reward loyal and useful courtiers by getting princes and princesses for them.

I only marry council members that have a dynasty name I want to keep around. Always fun trying to keep a family of Stewards alive till I find a little barony to give them. But yeah as far as normal courtiers I never even know who they are unless they're related, on my council...other than that they're just nobodys freeloading off the free food and drink at the castle.
