I'm a bit puzzled. I've betrothed my son (Heir to my throne) to marry the duchess (heir to her father throne) NO OTHER HEIRS.
Coming of age they both marry. My Son marries the duchess. Father is assassinate. She inherites the throne. I assassinate the duchess.
I thought my son would become the duke of the realm.

It did not happen. What have I done wrong?

It isn't your son that would inherit the kingdom, but your son's son, so your grandchild. You should have waited for your son and the duchess to have a child first, then kill the duchess.

Your not part of their dynasty is my first guess. It probably passed to another sister of hers or a cousin or some such.

Another thing is if that duchy is outside of your realm and if that duchies under high or absolute CA it cannot be passed outside of that realm. That's one of the reasons high to absolute is desired so that you won't lose lands upon ill fated inheritances.

But needless to say I would go back and look at who is listed as your wife's heir, and then look at Crown laws that dictate her duchy. That should show give you a better idea of what occurred.
