Love the new trade system and with the missions I owned a third of India by 1510 with Portugal (self evident I guess). My question is about market share as it is needed for a chunk of bonuses.

I'll hazard a guess but would appreciate if someone can clarify.

Slave 1 produced at Node A.

Node A steers 50% to node B

Slave .5 at Node B... steers 50% to node C

Slave .25 at Node C collect 50% of trade (my capital node)... So my market share is .125

(assuming only 1 slave produced in the world)

Your market share in a trade node is your Current Trade Power's percentage of the total Current Trade Power in the node.

Trade value is transferred downstream or collected. When transferred downstream, it increases in value. In other words, if 1 ducat worth of trade is outgoing, i.e. sent downstream from node A to node B, node A has 1d less to share between those who collect from the node, but more than 1d is added as incoming in node B. (Typical percentage increase 5-20% for each node traversal).

Trade power is transferred upstream with a significant power loss, so as a general rule you should not be using this functionality unless you know what you are doing.

Forget about your one slave. By the time he has been spread out over the trade network, there might be 1.47 slaves in total. Or 1.63. Or whatever. Which is silly. So just do as the game does and think in term of trade values. :p

I guess it makes sense if you think in terms of value instead of pysical units. That ton of spices is worth a lot more in Europe than in the place it originated.

I was not talking about value of trade nodes or share of nodes but actual share of trade goods. If you check the ledger it shows your actual market share per good. Any good that you have 20% of you get a bonus. Cheers Thanks!

Re-reading my post I can see where it wasn't clear.
