What's actually horrible about monthly transactions is that you can't set a decimal price.
Want to autosell minerals at a price of 1.5 energy apiece? Nope, it's 1 or 2. Only integers allowed.
Who thought that was a great idea? Just let me type in a number, dammit.

I don't understand the price system anyway. I never setup a specific price. Because when I do, the transactions are not made.
That's because if the game can't meet the price you set, they don't do the transaction.

It's useful if you want to sell your minerals, but only if you are getting more than X in a month, or you want to buy alloys when the price dips below Y.
