  • Hearts of Iron III
Hi all, just planning out my first HOI3 game and I was wondering if there were any online resources for downloading the game map?

I think having the ability to look over a map in the real world would make planning your strategy easier (especially for new players) rather than having to use the in-game interface.

Any help here would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Welcome :)

Pelicam Sam is right, though this method won't display the province borders. If you are actually looking for a map in which you can plan your empire by painting individual provinces, you can get one here: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?415875-Paintable-map-for-HoI3

However, it dates from 2009. If you only have Hearts of Irons 3, it is likely still up-to-date, but the expansion packs have introduced several modifications to the province layout.

Whoa! Something about those maps seems...off. Maybe it's the mass amounts of sea zones or how many provinces there are, but something ain't in line with what we are playing.

I'd up to have to kill myself if Russia had that many provinces to slug through!

There's a lot of things 'off' about HoI3's map, but that's a whole different discussion :p

That said, these maps are from 2009. But I don't think that any provinces have been removed since then, so yeah, that's really how the eastern from looks like !

@OP: in a somewhat related note, if you want to improve your gameplay experience with a more realistic map, I really advise installing all the three expansions. And for further improvement, click here for the latest version of the Community Map Project. The downside is that there are no up-to-date "paintable" maps that I know of, though I'll probably make one myself in the near future.
