Why a Meath tag? The list of possible tags Riadach has posted would all be more important than a Meath tag (and a division of Ireland with those tags would be pretty nice, although the addition of Ossory/Osriage, although I would have the eastern Ulster province represent the Norman Earldom of Ulster under direct English rule), as Meath ceased to be an independent entity in the 12th century. A tag for the Pale would be either Kildare or Leinster...
I don't think Kildare was ever an independent Irish kingdom, and Leinster only covered a part of the Pale (as well as already having its own tag and province). I still think that Meath/Mide makes more sense.
It is incredible that after so many years you still manage to mess up names in Central Europe![]()
Wow, looks like Ukraine region is becoming a real powerhouse. In terms of old mechanics of course, I don't know how the new provinces will be balanced in the new system...
Under Henry VII, the king's writ barely ran inside the Pale, for that matter. The administration of the lordship of Ireland was pretty firmly in the hands of the Fitzgeralds of Kildare under the two Garrets.Kildare was a strong Irish earldom theoretically in vassalage to the English king, but with massive liberties. Remember the kings writ did not run outside the Pale at this stage. There was no united earldom of Meath.

If I was doing mechanics for the lordship of Ireland, the King of England would have to give the lordship to one of their vassals, or spend admin power to keep it for themselves. English Lord Deputies didn't tend to last long in the job before the rebellion of Silken Thomas.
