Kinky, they added 1 more Wallachian province and also renamed 4 out of the 6 Romanian provinces. My guess is that they split the old base tax but with the new development system this should still be better. Hungary has 1 more province, Ryazan 1 as well. Poland looks like it has 3 more provinces.
I'm a bit disappointed that Transylvania has no changes but it's possible that they boosted its development, which in the end would mean that it is richer.

By the way, how many new provinces does Lithuania have? It feels like is has about 4 or 5.

What happened to Thuringia?

Saxony and Thuringia are in a weird place in 1444. The two brothers who jointly ruled Saxony (Friedrich II and Wilhelm III) had just inherited Thuringia in 1440 and simply couldn't agree on how to divide it. There was an attempt to divide the Saxon-Thuringian lands peaceably in 1445, but that didn't work and civil war started in 1446, leading to a more permanent Saxony/Thuringia split in 1451.

I can't find any maps of the 1451 division, but the following 1485 division (the Treaty of Leizpig), of which there are plenty of maps, would probably have been similar.

I don't know how the game could really do justice to this complicated situation, though. An unhappy PU, maybe?

What happened to Thuringia?

By the same logic that the Saxony-Thuringia constellation followed, Bavaria should be split up in four different PUs.

In addition to the changes in Poland/Lit/Hungary/Wallachia and the ones seen in other DDs, it looks like Mecklenburg's been split as well (Wismar and Rostock), and Pommerania's now 5 provinces (Stralsund, Greifswald, Stettin, Kolberg, and Stolp). I'm 99% sure that Brandenburg's new province north of Berlin is Uckermark. Bohemia's gained Budejovice, Eger, and Hradec Králové(?) as well. And Saxony's been split into two provinces. Lastly, it looks like Courland/Kurland and Semigallia have been renamed to Goldingen(?) and Mitau...

This teaser made my enthusiams drop quite a bit

- Kalisz doesn't flow smoothly into Silesia, allowing for no nice Imperial German borders. Now I have to take Sieradz-Lezcya-Wizna

- eastern Europe still looks strange, why can't provinces there follow rivers and mountain ranges?

- Fehmarn still in Danish hands

That's only a single city that NOW count 17.000 people. So a 5-6.000 people town in 1450 need to count as a whole province? Even if in 1450 was neither a REAL port?

Samogitia divided the territories of Prussia and Livonia and was of top priority both to the Order to link their lands and to Lithuania to keep them divided. It is for this reason that peace treaties between the two always revolved around this province and it changed hands on numerous occasions.

Who said anything about a whole province? Palanga would be part of the province of Samogitia (capital Medininkai/Varniai).
