well i guess youre just not aware of the mistakes there were in their other games

Nah, I'm well aware about the some of the issues.

But it doesn't affect the gameplay a whit, so it's not a primary concern for me.

The vast majority of the "issues" the maps have had resolve more around what things are called and is always subject to debates where no one is wrong and no one is clearly right.

Some things (provinces in the wrong place) are mistakes, but nothing that will prevent the game from being entertaining. (Unless of course you live in that province ;) )

Thanks, that's very comforting after... how many? Four "map-bugs threads"?

You know, perhaps it would be better to make sure that the map design is 100% correct, that every single province name is correct (and that an option be added for preference of Christianized names or localized names), that every assigned province culture is exactly correct, and that every single character who ever existed during the CK era is carefully researched and included in the game.

Add another 200 betatesters and CK would probably be almost ready to go gold...

...in another decade or so.

that's nonsense :)
but you could replace some of the crappy betatesters with some who have a sense for history. Or simply take one out of each region and ask him if there are any mistakes on the map, etc. This would not be a bad idea :)

It was "funny" during the Victoria beta phase the same problem occured with wrong borders on the map (Texas & French/German border) and suddenly all started crying, why noone discovered them before. Well the answer is, that there haven't been any good betatesters who cared about it or even no betatesters from that region.

Gee, thanks for calling us crappy. I really appreciate that.

Perhaps if more Lithuanians actually started to buy games distributed by Paradox, rather than getting them from "local distributors", there would be more Lithuanian betatesters.

You are ****** coming here and insult people over something which is a non-issue to the majority of Paradox customers. There are countless of issues associated with betatesting and one of the traits of a good betatester is an ability to prioritize between them. In case you haven't noticed, we are not betatesting a historical atlas, but a computer game.

Hello Deserteur,

what you don't seem to realise, is that leaving out Lithuanian names was a conscious choice. Not using minor languages helps not endingup having betazoids fighting among themselves, and more importantly, makes a map easier to read.

Lets take a very simple example. On THIS screenie, you'll notice (as you surely are extremely learned in Medieval History) that Britton provinces were given French names. "Naoned" is shown as "Nantes", "Roazon" is shown as "Rennes." As you know Brittany was a powerful independant duchy of over 1,500,000 people, and Christian. Yet our resient Britton betazoid (Kerloic) acknowledged that Britton names would be harder to understand for foreigners, and that French names weren't a problem.

Since at the time Lithuania was merely a wooded area split between pagan tribes that numbered 500,000 people top, what makes you think that you should get Lithuanian names? I do understand that you feel frustrated, but hey why can't you understand that choices had to be made?

Kevin

PS: oh, BTW if you want to compare your medieval history degree to mine, feel free to PM me.
PPS: you should stop insulting people (as you already did twice), it's a sloppy road and moderators might get tired of it.

I was going to reply but I simply can't be bothered. Besides, it's contrary to board rules to tell someone directly what a horse's ass he's being so I might run the risk of having to ask Havard or BiB to warn or ban me if I did. I'll simply content myself with saying that you can't possibly have much of this "sense of history" you're refering to if you're asking for correct names to be used when you're talking about the geopolitical situation that existed during that particular 400-year span of European history and that will be viewed (and played) by a predominently English-speaking group of people living in the 21st century. Yes, there are some enforced errors due to map/financial considerations, a few "accepted" and debateable errors, a number of "well this would seem to be the most appropriate name, all things considered" decisions that not everyone will agree with, etc...but on the whole I believe that it has reached the point where more meaningful work should be done elsewhere...
