Hey,
I've been working on my map for 4 hours and I'am really mad right now :/ When I load my mod in game it crashes at "Loading Database". I've already browsed whole internet and found no solutions. I used GIMP to make map files, which are saved in .bmp, 24-bit and "Do not write color space information" checked. No idea what went wrong. If someone can help me, I will be grateful.

Your map files lack the index the vanilla ones have ;)

I'm trying to make a new map but this happens to me... I made two provinces (one land and one sea) just to test the map but for some reason the land province looks black and I can't even click on it, also I don't know if that blue line over the sea that doesn't match perfectly with the land is normal or not.

I repaired my map by changing the options in GIMP(you need to change RGB into indexed thing). Now I have another problem. It crashes while "Loading Flags". I was reading this topic and trying to make my files perfect. Still no proper solution. No idea what went wrong. Everything is just like in tutorial or it should be. I think it is something small that my noob little eye can't see. I would be very grateful if someone could help me.

I think it may be caused by mapfiller or .mod file.

I have a similar problem to sillent, however I realized that the frame is way bigger than my map, so perhaps that has something to do with it? Is there a minimum map size? If not what else might cause this?

Your mapfiles are still pretty broken. Easy to fix stuff, wrong color coding etc.
Also you are missing compatibily stuff like trade routes (unless that file isn't mandatory anymore).
No need to blame mapfiller and modfile ;)

Ok thanks, I see my problems with map, but it's so shocking for me. I mean that "Loading Flags" CTD is actually caused by mapfiles not flag or mod file. I will try to repair it somehow.

There's gotta be one somewhere ... hm
I bothered modders that know when I played around with that.

You need to use the NVIDIA Normal Map Filter with settings similar to these on the topology map:

Also depends on how you want the look and feel of your map. It might be necessary to copy&paste the contents of the topology over to a new file that doesn't have the indexed color of the topology file.

Do you have any idea if this can be done on something that isn't Photoshop? It seems to struggle on my computer.

I have been working on my map mod for almost two days now to little success. I got my map to load up without any provinces but after using the province filler everything started getting wonky. First I crashed on Loading Map Logic, so I stripped mod down and changed some things. Then it started to crash on initializing map logic. I fixed that by adding portages, but now it is crashing on Loading Flags and I simply cannot figure out what's wrong. I have checked three different thread for related issues to no success.

Please help, my mod file is attached.

I was able to fix this by removing the province setup folder. I intended to redo it at some point, and when I deleted it, my issue with loading flags went away.

Do you have any idea if this can be done on something that isn't Photoshop? It seems to struggle on my computer.

There's an equivalent plugin for GIMP if that's any lighter (my preferred setting in it is the Prewitt 5x5). Otherwise if you want to go Full Autist you could do the thing by hand...might have the map done by CK3's release. Maybe. XD

EDIT: And it looks like paint.net has a few plugins for normal mapping, though I am completely unfamiliar with that program.

Does anybody have any idea what may be causing the following issue?

When zoomed in, the dark areas have the appearance of flowing water. I've gone through my mod several times with Validator and found no issues.

EDIT: I've been able to narrow down the issue to the rivers file. Replacing my modded file with the vanilla file gives the same issue though, strangely enough.

Aha! Gimp I have, and have a vauge idea how to use.

Another option with lots of easy to use filters for normal mapping is filter forge. My personal favorite due to ease of use, no bugs, and great preview/customization options.

I'm working on a new map for my Holy Roman Empire Mod and have hit a bit of wall recently. No matter what I do I can't seem to get my game to load; it always CTDs at "Loading Flags". I know that, although counter-intuitive, this is probably an issue with my map files and not my flag files. I've been using guides on this forum and the wiki to get started, but those can only take you so far. I've double-checked the map file encoding, but I am clearly missing something here. I've attached a copy of my mod to this post. I would greatly appreciate any help offered.
