It seems that my adjacencies.csv is not working at all, resulting in a crash at calculating paths (because I therefore have no portages, sea crossings, or major river crossings). When I look at the setup log, it's not showing any adjacencies being calculated between provinces for which I have defined connections in the csv. The code is extremely simple because I don't have many rivers or islands, but I can't find the problem with it. Here's the contents of my adjacencies.csv :

From;To;Type;Through;-1;-1;-1;-1;Comment
422;424;sea;492;-1;-1;-1;-1;ToIsland
423;424;sea;492;-1;-1;-1;-1;ToIsland
425;424;sea;492;-1;-1;-1;-1;ToIsland
300;302;major_river;512;-1;-1;-1;-1;Rivercrossing
541;542;portage;432;-1;-1;-1;-1;GreenLake-BlueLake
531;532;portage;261;-1;-1;-1;-1;SmallLake-BigLake
531;533;portage;263;-1;-1;-1;-1;SmallLake-LongLake
530;534;portage;411;-1;-1;-1;-1;LakelandRiver-OldLake
-1;-1;;-1;-1;-1;-1;-1;-1

Edit: For example, when I look at the setup log it shows province 424, a small island, adjacent only to province 492, the sea surrounding it, when it should also be adjacent to provinces 422, 423, and 425, which form the nearby coast. I assume the game is crashing at this stage (just prior to initializing the map) because it is not calculating any of the four portages either, and it does not like to run without them since 1.10.

Double Edit: Does the engine calculate all of the direct connections first and then go back and check the adjacencies.csv? This would suggest that if there's nothing wrong with the csv, there's something wrong with a process that goes on in between.

The process is kinda bugged as there shouldn't be the requirements that you have to have a portage for the game to properly load (Not every map contains one of these in the first place). But apart from that it normally works. It can be that the adjacencies are loaded after the normal adjacencies stuff but that shouldn't be a problem.

Somewhere in your definitions.csv, adjacencies.txt and default.map there has to be something wrong (or maybe in another file). Keep looking!

I noticed also something else with adjacencies. If you have commented lines (beginning by #) then the engine seems to forget to take account of lines sometimes before, sometimes after the commented line.

Adjacencies is basically loaded like a csv -> read line by line and then split by the delimiter ';'. I wouldn't add line comments to any of those files.

On the other hand completely empty lines seem to work just fine.

Can someone just take a look at this map and see why it's crashing? I used JonStryker's tool for creating the definition, and I'm pretty sure the adjacencies and default.map are fine, but it still crashes just prior to initializing map. It also does not load in CW Map Checker, which is strange because when I did the definitions manually the map checker worked fine. I have not been able to get a custom map to load since 1.10 was released, and I really don't know what change it is that I'm missing.

Prob same problem as above:

I'm creating a custom map, encountered the 'loading graphics' error which is the final stage when the game first loads up/setup(in the logs).
Had the problem with 'calculating paths' but I seem to have fixed that by adding some major rivers/portages/seas in the adjacencies file.

Anyone truly know how to fix this 'loading graphics' thing?
My map has custom working(?) definitions and all that jazz, maybe I did something wrong but any attempts to fix it have been to no avail.
I also tried having a custom start date 930 (changed the defines.txt and added a bookmark) that apparently might be linked to the 'loading graphics' thing.

Heres my DA map files if you want to take a look:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/g0hh60cimxw8shb/DA Mod Test.rar

This includes:
Map folder - needed image files, blank region, blank positions, definitions with standalone custom provinces, custom continent and custom adjacencies
Common folder - custom cultures, dynasties, landed_titles and bookmarks
History folder - custom characters, provinces and titles
Localization folder - just cultural titles and titles for the existing provinces & holdings

I didnt include the .mod file since i dont exactly know what paths to replace.

I have another version which has vanilla files merged with DA files but this one is just DA files on its own (both dont work and crash at 'loading graphics')
If you want that one uploaded, ask me

Heres a version of the map made using Jon Stryker's map filling tool

When opened with Jon's Scenario Editor, the first version shows the provinces as null while this new one made with his tool actually shows the correct tag or whatever (Val Royeaux|null va Val_Royeaux|c_val_voyeau)

Make sure that Excel does not replace '(C)' with '©'. The tool does not like that. But I guess this doesn't solve your problem (if there even is one).

Yeah, im not much of an Excel guy so I have no idea how to change that. The tool gets the idea though and still makes it a city apparently.

A little awkward, since I am using the same idea as Mr jay10101 to teach myself modding, but I've spent a fair while on this but it still isn't quite working. If someone can take a look to see what I've done to make a 'calculating paths' error repeatedly appear, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Link: http://www.mediafire.com/download/jaavx0o97h65z6q/DAOMOD.rar

I understand that the problem is probably in adjacencies but after tinkering around with it, I can't find out what could be wrong. I have a sea, a major_river and portage connection.

Yeah, im not much of an Excel guy so I have no idea how to change that. The tool gets the idea though and still makes it a city apparently.

The © messes stuff up. Be assured of that. I've taken a look at your files. Change the excel setting that replaces (c) and/or edit it back every single time by hand. A holding named "b_lorent_©" results in all kinds of problems.

Fixed the (C) problem, still crashes at either 'calculating naval ranges' if I dont have any major rivers AND seas and also at 'loading graphics' if I have major river and seas.

I'm creating a custom map and I'm having a small, weird issue. The way I'm testing it right now is by having my own definitions, adjacencies, provinces, rivers, etc. but still using the other folders (common, landed titles, etc.) from vanilla. This is a bit disorganized but it works to check aesthetics and such.

I've set up adjacencies for portages and major_rivers as such:
Code:
6;14;sea;936;-1;-1;-1;-1;Isle-Isle
18;19;major_river;937;-1;-1;-1;-1;Celle-Hamburg
19;23;major_river;939;-1;-1;-1;-1;Blabla
20;22;major_river;938;-1;-1;-1;-1;Blabla
937;939;portage;19;-1;-1;-1;-1;WestRiver-WestLake
(Nevermind the silly comments) And it works fine... as long as the rivers 937, 938 and 939 aren't defined in definitions.csv. If I have them defined, it crashes. If I comment them out, it loads. The crash is always at the very end at "calculating_naval_ranges".

The rivers are defined properly in default.map too. I tried changing their ID in definitions to 940-942 so that they aren't related to major rivers anymore and it still doesn't work. I'm thinking it might be an issue with the provinces themselves and not with adjacencies.

I'm attaching the map folder here, nothing else is needed. The .mod file is simply the name, path and user_dir. Besides localization for new terrains and gfx for the minimap, I have no other folders.
