I've been having a problem with my map for some time now. I think it began when I improperly placed downloaded MyMap files or something like that, into the wrong directory.

Anyways, the problem is that there are large areas of white (terra incognita) even in provinces that I have explored/seen/know at start. In many of them I can only see the city, port (if there is one) and any topographical features that stick out through the white.

Is there anyone here that knows what I may have done or what is required to fix it?

What I can't figure out is in my England game, I have explored all of Eastern North America and I own every province around the great lakes, yet they come up as terra incognita. Can anybody fix my problem? Do I just need to research land tech to be higher?

You gotta read the readme. You should use the batch. It's a problem with a file called incgrid.tbl that is from Vanilla but needs to be from MyMAP in your EU2/map folder.

To be clear, I didn't mean to make you all think I was referring to the MyMap map, but rather the one that I use in AGCEEP and vanilla. Does the above piece of information still apply?

Yeah you cannot explore the Great Lakes because there are no ports for explorers or ships. You can map trade with an American Indian nation nearby because they know of the lakes. There is that large lake in Siberia that has the same problem except there is no nation that can map trade to gain you knowledge of the lake. Usually you get knowledge of the Caspian by map trading or conquering a capital. Conquering a capital from an American Indian to get maps of the Great Lakes does not work anymore because they are pagan.

Well if you used MyMAP before then yes then you just need to apply the Vanilla file. ;)

OK, thanks for the help, but I am a noob when it comes to these technical issues so I'll need a bit more detail than that!

If I want to use the normal vanilla map without seeing the white blotches, can I simply uninstall MyMap? Or is there a file that I can have emailed to me that I can paste over my compromised file or what?

What are the STEPS I need to take to fix this problem, which really makes playing AGCEEP much less enjoyable.

Well it's a file called incgrid in the map folder. Mod folders also got this one but it's only the incgrid.tbl in map folder in EU2 folder that is used.

I think you should look through your map folder cause I think MyMAP makes a backup, so look in the folder. And get back. ;)

OK, there are two files like the one you described:
incgrid.tbl AND
incgrid_mymap.tbl
