Hello, I just updated my game to the most recent patch. I had bought TOG and the Mediterranean, Russian, Nordic, and Celtic face packs so I updated so that I may play them. The game booted up and loaded like normal, but the game map that is the background was entirely gray, with little bits of the map edge border graphic here and there. I ignored it, thinking it was only a bug from me not downloading my dlc yet. So I opened up the dlc tab and installed all my newly purchased dlc, as well as my African and Mongol dlc portraits that I read needed to be updated. I exited the game, made sure all of my dlc was checked, and booted up the game again. It loaded flawlessly, not hanging up on anything. However, again, the map was gray with the map edge borders strewn about. What gives?

Hi Cpt_everos,

Please try if deleting the 'gfx' folder and the 'settings.txt' at '..\My Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\'

If that did not help, please post your DxDiag.

  • Open your Start menu
  • Type "dxdiag" in the search field (without quotes)
  • Open the dxdiag program
  • A window called "DirectX Diagnostic Tool" should pop up now
  • At the bottom right-hand side, click on "Save all information"
  • Save it to a place where you can find it easily, for example your desktop
  • Open the file and copy and paste the text between [NOPARSE]
    Code:
    [/NOPARSE] tags.

You can copy the line below and paste the text between the orange tags.
Code:
