Ecuador's borders should include part of the Amazon to the east which was part of Ecuador until 1941. In Hoi3 on release the borders were also wrong but it was fixed in the later expansions.

Yes everyone is right modding is a solution. But modding should not be used to fix the devs errors. If its wrong its wrong and they should fix it in the game, not a mod.

That said I also intend to mod to change state borders and add states to make possibilities more interesting. But anything that is wrong from the start is not solved by mods. Its an error.
