If you want a very recent example, you can take stellaris. It has a ingame tutorial but it can only be activated at the start of the game which gives you an idea how to play/the basics. However there is no way to turn it back on or quickly reference something when you need an answer. The help page cheerfully opens an ingame browser to the Stellaris Wiki which at the time of release was Bare-bones thus zero help. So you are left with only the basic knowledge of stuff ingame but not the actual meat/mechanics.
For an easy example, in stellaris, when you click on a fleet, you have a yellow circle that shows its maximum jump range. However the tutorial doesn't even tell you what this circle is and you are left wondering is that the sensor range or something else.
That's why I keep on asking for a manual of some kind, digital or otherwise a Fully fleshed out wiki, not a nice welcome page that contains lots of 'to be added' pages
