Manual?

Hey all,

I'm searching for any digital version of the EU1 manual. PDF, Word doc, text file ... any version will work just fine. My paper copy has already disappeared!

I know that there are versions of the TOC and index out there. What about the entire manual, though. I haven't seen that.

It doesn't exist. The manual sucks anyway, use the forums.

Are you joking?! That manual's a whopper, part of it is so interesting (especially the history bit) and some of it is so amusing in its "I'm-the-teacher-you're-the-student" kind of style, that I've almost passed more time on that than on the game itself. A whopper, I tell you.

(and it kind of comes in handy when your french teacher asks you a research on French history and you've got it written back there )

well the history stuff is good, even though the translation aint so smooth in paces, but the learn to play the game stuff is infuriating. part of this organisation, part of this is the tone: whoever wrote (or translated the manual) developed a mr. know-it-all/mr. blowhard expert identity.

if course that was good preparation for some of the posters I have later met in EUOT land, but hey, as a teaching aid, the manual fails hard, IMHO.

...I was referrign to the use of a manual as a tool that can help u learn how to play the game in a good way, something this manual can't.

Well, I can honestly say that I've never had any game manual teach me how to play a game. That's what the internet is for. Right?

I enjoy reading through game manuals during more relaxing times, like just before dropping off to sleep, in the "library" (whoo-eee!), and when there is a "chick-flick" on the idiot box.

It ain't real important. It will turn up eventually. Maybe.

I agree, I don't read manuals either(other than for leisure), but it's not a good manual if u look at the purpose it should server.

I disagree.

The manual offers all the "techincal" advises possible.

In general the purpose of the game's manual is to explain "how to do" things ... "what to do" is completely up to the player.

There is no game's manual that explain you what to do.. and for that reason people buy "guides" for games or walkthrough.

In general the purpose of the game's manual is to explain "how to do" things ...

I would say that it's an open question wether EU's manual actually does this ... it's not only sketchy and seriously lacking in details bordering on misleading - it's actually downright wrong on a number of points

Exactly, I mean come on! The game got patched up to 1.10 after all and several of us are also playing the IGC which furhter confuses things when you compare how things are explained in the manual.

I didn't buy the game for the manual, anyway - and the game is still one of the greatest ever

As other people have said, the manual isn't all that useful. You might be better of without it and just using the FAQ on this forum.
