when you want a good manual , buy hoi3. you will have a lot of fun with an excellent handbook. it has one of the best manuals i've ever seen.

No need to be bitter here wyK1NG, your brave efforts with AoD are recognized. Ultimately, the game itself will determine the succes, not the manual. I have played Hoi2 only with mods and these were not exactly well documented. It was more trial and error and reading the forums to try to figure out the inner workings. So many are used to playing Hoi2 without an encyclopedia
I have not seen the draft version of the manual yet, so I can't say much about it. I do know making a good manual is a lot of work.
It's not to late to sell a hardbound manual separately. I am sure many would pay extra for one.
I'm in the same boat with these guys... after HOI3, PI wont get a dime of mine till I read opinions on the games forums. Not to take any credit away from this game, but I'd rather be safe than sorry (I dont need another HOI game CD to put under my desk to keep it nice and level

I am also wonder if the manual will be available to people who haven't preordered the game. It would be a nice read to find out all the new changes to the game, without searching thru 1000's of post.
(I read a few of the recent DD's, but I found it took a lot of time to follow them since they didn't have direct links or page numbers for the official post.)
The trouble with most manuals these days is they don't ever seem to have enough detail, explanation on how and why things work game mechanics, oh, and lots of charts and unit stats etc etc.
I thought the AOD manual, whilst not having all the above, was pretty good. I think the problem is that maybe most here have played HoI2 so the manual didn't perhaps contain much new stuff or give much detail of the differences.
The game itself looks awesome and i am really looking forward to it - need some HoI lovin' after the HoI3 debacle

I know about that page, but take a look at DD 13.
Its really tedious to follow it for all the Updates, and I didn't want to look thru 17 pages to find all the post that are relevent. Then to try and do that for all 18 DD's just seemed like a lot more time than I have. So being able to just look at the manual would be more convienient
I just pre-ordered and took a look at the manual. It looks like a lot of information, and it's organized in a very text-heavy way. That's fine; that's how I like it!
However, my printer does not.
Would it possible for Paradox to post a version of the manual with the backgrounds removed for easier printing? I don't own Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe Reader doesn't let me remove the background. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Yes there does not seem to be a way to remove watermark with free Adobe reader 9.3.1

It looks fine to me, but the test will be after we dl AOD and play it and whether or not it answers our questions.
