So there, off to a good start. I took my eyes of the ducats for a second and I got myself another loan. Awesome. At a net cost of more than 40 ducats a year I am not pleased.
Didn't something similar happen earlier?
As you can see, I thoroughly split up my army and left just one group of 15k intact. This one group is roaming around in France mopping up what ever France keeps conjuring from the outer plains.
I might need to reassemble another 15k because rebels are again starting to become an issue. With a disjoint empire as I have now, rebels can be a royal pain.
It's always mightily attractive to just ignore those silly mercenary armies, but many small issues make for one big one, so it's always better to nip them in the bud. Taking that one extra step often makes the difference.
Especially when dealing with lucky nations, since they will always have at least one half decent general (their king).
I guess I won.
Note the attrition. A nice 4% on an army of 15k. Stuff like this is very easy to forget. Until you find yourself with 18WE and 5 rebel uprisings a month. Always keep track of every army out in enemy or colonial territory.
More mopping up, though France is almost down for the count. It won't be long now.
A grand total of 1(!) thousand soldiers. I guess the 15k roaming stack can return home for some rebel duty. Nice timing, this means I can leave most of my army in France sieging.
I get the feeling France just threw in the towel.
An income overview with Mantua at the top. Even now the difference with the number 2 is already substantial.
Too bad rebels are also becoming "substantial". I'm not even showing all of them
The *good* news is that because of the DoW by England all those years ago, I have been unable to pass the BB barrier. A whopping 8 BB to spend before crossing the treshold.
No idea why they wont accept, it's just a meager 16% above war score. But whatever it's just a matter of time before their remaining provinces become mine. The fact that I'm not bordering any mighty empires means I can just wait it out without fear of anyone invading. The trouncing of Poland really helps in this regard.
Decent advisors are so rare I even screenshot level 2 diplomats. The advisor/cultural assimilation/population effects side of things can still be vastly improved.
And they cave in! Good. I was contemplating about whether or not to cut off parts of France to have them rebel, but the fact that I would then have to DoW each of those individual nations since I am aiming for a WC made me decide against it. Would I have been aiming to just destroy France, I would try to cut of their German holdings and make them release for instance Burgundy. In a WC setting it's best to just conquer as much as possible.
And to top it off a world map.
Too bad Poland has such as similar colour.
