Anyone have any? I have been playing Rome: VV for a while now. yet I almost always have under 1000 man power per month. no matter how large my empires get.

i've actually had one cover about half of the map, and still earn 800. I am trying to claim all the areas under my same culture, yet that does not add enough for some reason. any ideas?

thank you for the reply.

attrition isn't the problem since I need help with my base man power, I guess I can try to trade for more fish. yet that wouldn't get me the amount I need.

I wish I also knew a good way to convert them, I have had about 6 or so under my same culture before. yet still received 800. doesn't make sense.

You may have a problem with population classes. Perhaps you have too few freemen. Check your population percentages. A healthy state needs around one third of each.

would it matter? if I have about 70 regions in a game, shouldn't it be more than enough?

with the game I am regarding to, it is near carthage territory and totally out of the way. the numidian regions I control have a fair population.

Each type of population does different things. Freemen are soldiers, slaves workers and citizens researchers. If you have a million people, but 3 freemen you will not have many soldiers. Balance is key. Add to that freemen of a different culture don't fight in your army, so you have to convert them first.

I understand that.

I do have a fair amount of freemen, and about 8 of my cultures regions. this is making me believe that greek civilizations and such are the most fun to play for a reason.

it is fun being able to have about 4 armies of 20k, instead of two if your lucky.

As I said, make sure you fullfill the conditions for cultural conversion in ur provinces. I am playing Carthage now and at the start of the game I had enormous manpower issues as well. But now all my African holdings have gained Carthaginian as culture, and I have aso colonised a good chunk of Spain, and I know have iirc almost 200.000 manpower.

What are the conditions for cultural conversion?

I've had it happen in games I've played but it just seemed kind of random to me.

I always wanted to know what weight have haracter traits in this matter: what is THE MOST importnant factor: charisma, popularity finesse? In my last game guy with charisma 10 was able to convert 3 provinces in 10 years, BUT guy with ch 9 failed to convert ONE in his lifetime.... An he was more popular.

Essentially, you need a province with a civilization value under 90, and a governor with at least 1 charisma. The MTTH is 800 months, which well exceeds one governor's lifetime. Modifiers to this is if the province has your same religion, if your nation has the ideas Citizenship and Emancipation, and various modifiers related to your governor's charisma, the provinces civ and population values. It looks like Charisma 7, 8 and 9 all give the same modifier, and Charisma 9's modifier would apply to 10 as well.

So your governors alone each had the same chance to convert, it was just the difference of provincial civ and pop values, and random occurance.

The way to get more reinforcements.. More than 1.000 per month is to ensure that the conversion from slave to freeman raises. I tested it and it continued to grow, when I took the national idea witch get the percentage of freemen to grow.

No, popularity does not apply when it comes to conversion. But it does apply to other things relating to the province, I'm sure. And I'm no expert in EUR coding, but I believe the modifiers stack. So if you have a Governor of 9 charisma, they get the benefits of having Charisma 7, 8 and 9. Same with the civ value if its between 60 and 91, it seems.

So the best way to convert province to your state culture would be appointing governor with high charisma (between 7-10), and set trade routes i such way, that this province would get CIV bonus. Interesting..... Also low population, so no grain...... I have to modyfy my strategies in this matter. Any chance you could add the same informations in religion conversion thread?
