Manifest Destiny
an incredibly patriotic AAR

MrAjgOK.jpg

(Disclaimer: despite actually being English for the purposes of this AAR I am for all intents and purposes American).
Its been a long time. A few patches back I started a Switzerland AAR entitled 'Switzerlake; or how I learnt to stop worrying and love neutrality'. The aim was to achieve Switzerlake and unite all of Europe in love and humanistic swiss tolerance. I wasn't able to finish the AAR but I have always been meaning to go back and start something new. Now that Cossacks is out and I have more free time on my hands, I shall once again start a new AAR and hopefully this time I will actually finish it.

This AAR will be in a very similar style to my last AAR, except this time we will be aiming for two different achievements.

To achieve this goal I have created what I believe to be the most patriotic nation imaginable.

Can the forces of Freedom and Liberty win against the tyranny of the Old World? Will we achieve true manifest destiny? Can we make America great again?

It remains to be seen, but like a true patriot we will either succeed or die trying! (in the metaphorical as opposed to literal sense).

Just a short update to start with. My internet is having a service issue so I have to keep it short for now.

Chapter 1; The Mother of all Omelettes

Its November the 11th, 1444. A group of loyal, Odin fearing Patriotic Americans have escaped to the new world from the tyranny of the European states under the wise leadership of 'Consul Senator Armstrong'. Together a colony is founded and a new nation is born, America.

(Even at this point in history, cutting the deficit was a huge concern to the American People)
We start the game with only a five development province, a deficit and more ships then we can reasonably afford. In order to cut the deficit I start by re-arranging our merchants, sending out my light ships and lowering army maintenance. Whilst I am doing all this, I notice that our ships don't have very patriotic names. As we are the only country in the entirety of the Americas who can actually build ships at this point, I decide it would be wise to rename my ships in order to emphasis our American Exceptionalism and to show everyone else just how much better we are.

After that is sorted, the next order of buisness is to pick which Deity our God Fearing Patriots are going to worship. As I am a republic I am going to be able to re-pick my deity every type a new leader is elected. Our democracy is certainly a grand thing to behold. I opted for Freya in order to try and stabilize my economy. It made little difference and I regret not worshiping the much more patriotic Odin instead, although ultimately it didn't really matter in these early years.

Cutting the deficit is all well and good, but if we truly want America to be great again, then we needed to expand; we would need to jumpstart the War Economy. Luckily for us we had a neighbour in the region named Powhatan who we could fabricate a claim on. They lacked allies and (unsurprisingly) had much more inferior troops then our advanced military forces. Our diplomats were sent to fabricate a claim on these American Hating Communists and we set about creating a complicated and intelligent plan geared at defeating them once and for all.

(can't fret about every egg)
We also recruit our first general, the colossus of a man Luke Arnold. No doubt he will have a long and successful career as a general, especially with stats like his.

Predictably our forces are able to easily overcome these native pinko commies. We are able to annex their country, force convert their capital (and only province) to our religion as well as take all of their money. Our tech advantage, superior units and that great military general; that American Patriot Luke Arnold, ensure the war is a total walk in the park.
B66B4F74E463E9B468B5572B1026999EE988CF71

(I suspect that this will be the pattern for just about every upcoming war)
Now one of the interesting side effects of being Western Tech is the fact that we can see what is going on in Europe. Conversely the Europeans can see what is happening in the new world. Although I can't say for certain whether this will affect how the AI behaves, but I suspect this will make them aim for the New World faster then they otherwise would have. An interesting thing to note is that you could prevent this by making your tech High American instead, but we are proud Western Americans who don't need no natives. (Also I am pretty sure it would lock us out of the achievement).

As a result of the lack of terra incognita we learn that in England the war of the roses has begun and they have opted to support the house of Lancaster. Hopefully the sea will open up and swallow all of their petty aristocrats. Until that happens we will have to watch out for the colonizers and hope that they don't make it here in time.

ThuBCAi.png

(petty Europeans being petty)
As we are a free democratic society, it is time for us to choose our new leader. We operate on a 'One Man One Vote' system, but seeing as how the franchise consists of just me, we can ensure that our democracy wisely picks the most suitable leader. We elect to 'elect' Senator Armstrong for another term. We also discover that Senator Armstrong's last name is Akhrakouaeronon which is a bit of a mouthful. We can afford to lose the republican tradition either way and keeping our six, six, six leader for as long as possible will help us do well initially. We are already very close to teching up only 4 years into the game.

E8ABAAF78248A1C1C06D0478C24257C6CD618379

(No doubt the Akhrakouaeronon family will be a strong political dynasty in the future, like the Kennedys)
Just four years in and America is starting to look great again. The next part of this tale of liberty should be uploaded either later today or tomorrow. God Bless America.

As an American myself... I must say that this is pretty accurate:D Make sure you include copious amounts of tax-hating, dumb school children (including me) and tons of obesity!

I cant wait to see some Murrican breed freedoom being delivered to those arrogant Europeans doorsteps. It's never soon enough to show them the power of a REAL democracy. Every province conquered by America is a small step for this amazing nation but a giant step towards a better world.
