It was nothing historically. The devs got it from a alt.history novel and included it for fun. Kind of like the aliens in hoi.

What was the manhattan commune? I have never heard of that before. Where they communists?
The developers took the idea from the alternate history "steampunk" novel The Difference Engine by William Gibson and Bruce Sterling. There's no historical basis for it.

What's the country tag for the Manhattan commune again? This sounds like something that could be fun.

The best AAR ever written on these forums (in my opinion) was based on the Manhattan Commune:

http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=132941
It was a fun read, well written and gripping (and ended in defeat! How many times have you seen that around here?), but honestly, that sonofabitch Doyle-Stalin won the race? Horrible end. Screw that.

I mean, it is alternate history, and as history nuts we're all supposed to love people like Trotsky -- or Cohen in the story -- and how he could have changed everything, not the bleeping mad pig and how it should win as it historically did.

Okey, now I've tried to make this country work but all I get is this message when I start the game.

--- ERROR: (Unknown statement) 'MEC = {'Line 2086 file = db/revolt ---
Do you still want to continue?
Abort Try again Ignore

And besides that everytime i try to load a new or existing game i get this message:

--- (type = /id=1050092) already exists. ---
Do you want to continues?
Abort Try again Ignore

When i select ignore the same message pops up again three times but instead it says 1050093, 1050094, 1050095.

For the first error it sounds like you've copied and pasted from the MEC tag... go to that line (ctrl + g), or search for the comment stated (ctrl + f), in the file in the directory specified and change it to the "MAN" tag.

For the second... again just seems like a copy and paste issue. The numbers need to be unique. If you could say what files you altered, this would help.

Hah, im new england

Do new england have the american bonus to immigrants? cause i not getting any :( and i needz em.

Well, it's like this. The immigration bonus is for the USA. That's it.

Within the USA (I can't from your post tell if you are playing the Commune or not) the immigrants tend to pick those states with the largest number of provinces, so New York, Penn., and Virginia early one, and then California and Alaska later.

Any country in the American continent gets a bit of a bonus, IIRC, but typically the stats of the USA trumps all. I don't know the exact formula, but I remember folks stating that plurality heavily influences how much immigrants are drawn, and the USA starts with a big head start in plurality over all others. Then some claim the type of government also plays a part, with democracy leading the way, and Full Citizenship trumping the other social issues held by the different parties, so a FC party would influence more immigrants than a Residence party would. So forth and so on.

And all this is relative to the choices made by the other American countries.

Then, you have to have conditions right in the emigrating countries, typically Europe, to push their pops to leave and head out for America. Early in the game, you might find that most countries are keeping the pops relatively happy, so they don't leave so much as they typically do perhaps later in the game. Sometimes, conditions are not quite that bad, but they might migrate to another state within the country to get work. Or they might be content to simply shuffle over an extra province or two and wind up moving from, say, Prussia to Belgium rather than taking the long trip to America.

So, you see, it's all relative. You can do everything within your power to get immigrants to seek out your section of God's little acre, but events and conditions not within your control might influence those same immigrants somewhere else, or may prevent there being any immigrants available to influence at all.

There just ain't no sure thing here, except for the fact that perhaps 8 times out of 10 the USA will get first choice over other nations.

Ahh, I see. Fixed it now and it works great. Thanks for the help!

Papal States government type republic. I'm not sure if it changes flags in Vannila however.
