Greetings everybody,

After slightly more than 600 hours of "realistic play", I learnt one thing : unique buildings are absolutely useless. Not only there are extremely expensive, they also consume a lot of space for absolutely nothing. Make them useful, make them great again ! This begins by giving them some utility as "half monuments". Per exemple, the city library must act on educational efficiency, by increasing it … Hall of Justice, Office of Transports, City Hall, Grand Hotel… must increase efficiency of Police, Transport (both public and road transport, …), Administration and Finance of the City, Tourism and Leisure, …. I give the fewest ideas to let the community make these own suggestions ! Acting on one or more effects, be depending on other buildings, … This could bring some life to the city !

Furthermore, some unique buildings are (in real life !) generating more money than they cost. Per exemple, casino, hotel and offices ! Private office generates revenue and many jobs, but demanding a huge public service covering and good transport management, by concentrating hundred if not thousands of employees and visitors at the same building. If they functions correctly, they must generates a lot of attraction and revenue for the city.

Last but no the least one, these unique buildings must be able to generates both planned and unplanned events like the football stadium to make move the city, generating animation and providing a deep challenge for the player by increasing the need of public service (police, garbage, health and transport). These unplanned events can be forbidden by policies, or instead encouraged if not planned (for some amount of money).
Per exemple : concerts, galas, movies, congresses, matchs, … !

I already thought something like this before: I imagine a Shopping Mall that create jobs, attract tourists, have some events and decrease the necessity for commerce (blue bar).

@Nicky Ferro : Well, you just cited the hardest exemple here … The Mall provides a different kind of satisfaction from a regular commerce. That is the idea : we should have a different kind of satisfaction with some Unique Buildings, not considering these as parks ! This is especially valuable for commercial and attractions !

I write this in another post, But I think is more or less the same.

Now that we have mass Transit, we need a excuse to use it, not olnly for the same Living+working+Shopping. The city needs life!!!

City Events DLC; we have , museums, theathers, stadiums, expocenters, operas, public buildings, parks ,etc… why not make events and test the road networks and mass transit

They already try to do it in a small scale. The Match DLC has their events, The roush hour mod also, is time to implemented in the game.

Comicon, Pop star concert, movie premiere, olimpics, Independence day, Riot , etc

and that is how monuments makes money to the city.

I also like the concept of the Rush Hour mod, but I think there is too many issues to use it. Such as ressources fails, killing industries and commerces, disparition of crime and health issues, time management looks like a "rough draft", … and agent limit might be reached with some events. The IA parking is also redundant with TP:MP v 1.8.

In the Wish List, developers have already heard about Rush Hour, but at this moment have not thought more about the mod. May be for Cities Skylines 2, but I do not expect a improvement although I would like it.
