A much needed thred.

I have seen the screenshot of Africa, and I hope Timothy Ortiz is wrong and that its not to late for Paradox to improve naval warfare significantly from their previous games. In HoI ships are little more than land units on water, and that is darn frustrating.

I couldn't agree more with Pishtaco on how to handle the matter, an abstraction is nessesary. And yes, the naval system in Imperialism is better than the one in HoI. The simple fleet commands and the larger sea zones in Imperialism made perfect sense. The naval system in HoI dosn't.

I love the naval abstraction idea. Will allieviate the problems the AI has with dealing with navies. Lot of work for Johan and the crew, but could overcome the weakest aspect of both EU and HoI.

If they rebuild navies to work as in Imperialism, I hope they'll fix somehow a flaw within that system. Imperialism (or Medieval: Total War with the same kind of system) allowed teleportation of troops through several seazones in one turn. Understandable in turn-based games (especially Medieval with longer time/turn) but not in real-time.

Imperialism was turn based though, and the level of abstraction was quite high. I don;t think there'll be a real change to the way navies are handled in EU/HOI, ie, stacks.

If there is, then good.
