Making Custom Nations?

I've had a go at making my own custom nation, that of William Walker's "Republic of Sonora", I've filled in the info, made units, made the different national flags, as well as chosen the regions Sonora will inhabit. Yet, on the nation select screen the land appears as uncolonised, the flag is that of Rebels, and the box which shows the nation's name when you hover over the land appears empty, what have I done wrong?

So, do you have
1) country file in history/countries with unique tag
2) country tags and provinces specified in history/provinces
3) country file in common/countries
4) country added to common/countries.txt
Could you share your mod? It would be much easier to see what's wrong that way
