So I'm sitting on a brand spanking new Intel E8400 3.0 GHz Dualcore processor overclocked to 3.83GHz. My question is : why does this run like my old single core 2.13GHz proc? CORE especially seems to slow it down. In a CORE game, there is a huge slowdown by 1941. The equivalent slowdown in Arma 1.2 happens ~1945-6. What's the deal? I know that dual core will have nothing to do with performance since the game isn't at all engineered to use multicores...but I don't get how this game can mire my computer so.

I've turned off the sprites in the game as well as renaming the doomsday/gfx/map/units/pics folder so that I get the error message. Jeez, is there anything else I can do? My days are getting longer and longer...approaching 5 seconds +.

CORE will run slower than vanilla, because we have so many extra units from day 1. They are the major reason the game slows down in the later stages.

On the other hand, the slow down later in the game shouldn't be as noticeable, for the very same reason.

There isn't really anything that can be done about this. And, to be honest, given the likely changes ahead for CORE, we are probably going to end up with more units, not less.

The one good piece of news for you is that the "ghost fleet" problem (which was one main reason for the game getting very slow in the later stages in vanilla) is now reported fixed by the new 1.2 ARM patch.

your pc blows my laptop outta of the water, but i've never suffered slowdown that bad with CORE. I do run the minimum background programs, set my anti virus off, defrag every couple of days, use Ccleaner to wipe rubbish away. I know it sounds nooby, but the more basic things you do, the better the chance to discover what is causing this slowdown.

clock your cpu back to default 3ghz... just causes undue stress & wear

modern cpu doesnt rely on frequency for speed but architecture of the cpu anyway

its only a number you know... ...

I am always very amused when people with brand new high tech computers complain about game speed. I have a five year old laptop, guess how long a game day takes for me :)
And I still feel the need to run it on slow and pause a lot. But I guess that's simply a different play style.

I reverted CORE back into flotilla system, thereby among other things removing the ship deployment events. That helped to speed the game up in the early years. But I guess the lower total amount of naval units helps in general as well.

Karst sounds like your box has a cold. I have a high end rig but a little less processor than you.(mines getting over a year old now) What bus speed are you using, how much RAM and what clock speed? Sounds silly asking those things for a game like HOI but I am curious why your box is bogging down

Something is affecting your game speed but I dont think its the game. I have played many games into the late 50s and days should only take 1-3 seconds.

What OS are you running? Make sure mdm.exe is not running and not configured to start on boot. Sometimes my game would seem to bog down, I save it and reboot. Make sure nothing else is running. I run winamp in the background and believe me it affects the game seppd later in the scenario.
