Last word from me...we will see Aod released only after HOI III 1.4, if not 1.5 !!
They bet too much on that horse, and are not going to risk, letting users choose between the 2 as they are now...Regards

I hope you are wrong, but I think you are right...
Let's put it this way : PI announced patch 1.4 to be released ( as a beta) in February, as no announcement was made about AoD I guess it will be released AFTER 1.4;on the other side, Gamersgate have announced their pipelines of new releases up to March 15th. My guess is that AoD will be released in the second half of March, just in time to meet their I Q 2010 deadline. Of course, I hope to be proved wrong, but I would not bet my money on this hope

EDIT: since this thread has caused a lot of confusion, I'd like to stress once and for all my thought. It was never my intention to attack anyone, neither PI nor the devs (crazy me!) for the delay. Put simply, PI told us that the game had been handed down to them and that they would have started QA tests, which would take about 3-4 weeks. This means that the game should be released around the end of February at the latest - but what I'm pointing out here is that, even if the game would be released another month (or two, or three) later I wouldn't mind if that was due to technical issues (e.g. a small code review). The only thing I wouldn't appreciate is the game to be delayed because of a will to improve HoI3 first. That's all - I had no intention to accuse anybody and I'd like to apologize to anyone who felt offended by this post/thread. Over!

If they are delaying it because they want to patch hoi3 first then that is wrong and I support you.
However they stated that aod needs to go through 3-4 weeks of final testing etc etc , a regime put in place since the hoi3 debacle.

If pi could come out with an anticipated release date that would help very much

3-4 weeks sounds fine to me (it would mean end of February, at the latest) but... 2nd half of March?!?!? :wacko:

PI had lost the momentum of AoD once when they announced the postponement too late. I hope they will do better this time. Just give us an ETA. The first quarter of 2010 - one third of it is almost gone, and we kind of start losing patience and some good will if nothing´s going to happen soon...

Its not too late for saving the HOI series from what has been the worst executed launch of a game in my knowledge (I mean HOI III)...Aod should not the problem from a PI perspective, but the solution !!

Yeah, Paradox would be stupid to delay AoD, just to try to force us to play HoI3 1.4. They stole my money for HoI3, don't they wan't to see my 20$ for AoD?

Sorry, but even if I am eager to play AoD, I must disagree.
I will NOT join any request to release AoD ASAP, I wish they will release it AS SOON AS IT IS READY.
What I would request is that they give us a release date; after all, they announced that the release was due on December 17th two months earlier (on September 8th, if I remember well), I don't see why now they cannot give us something more precise that " I Q 2010"

The AoD team said it is already done, and they have given it to Paradox and Gamersgate. They just have to decide to release it.

Now if there truely are things that still need to be polished, fine. But it they do delay it they better have some concrete visible reasons, not just "Well, the product didn't meet our level of satisfaction", or some garbage like that.

While I quite enjoy many of Paradox's games, I was sorely disappointed by HoI3.. I bought it the day I found it available to me, and felt like smashing my face against the wall for some time afterwords.. I gave up on it after 1.2 and still having such large problems with the game.

When AoD was announced I was really interested, I still liked HoI 2: Arma and enjoyed playing it.. Even after years of playing the damn thing! And here comes upgrades to the game system that I thought they should have put in a long time ago!

It is unfortunate that they are planning on delaying the release of AoD simply so that they can make more money off of HoI 3.. But they are a business and it is to be expected that they screw people over for profit, even if it isn't as often as some of there competitors.

Whoever told you that AoD is ready is not someone involved the project.

If anyone besides be or Lennart says somethign about AoD they have NO clue about it.

A new release candidate is scheduled for delivery to us early next week, and will be in testing, and after that is approved we'll be able to get BACK to retailers to set new release dates. Which can be anywhere from March to Jume, depending on when we can get slots in the release schedules.

We can't. We blew 5 deadlines on this project. Now the retailers won't touch it until we have a version that goes through basic approval testing. Which AoD is not yet even close to reaching yet, as the game simply havent been stable enough.

we delivered the RC as said in the last dev diary. the game is ready and done, and its now up to paradox and gamersgate to decide when and how to release it. if it was after us devs, you guys had the game already by yesterday

Just wait for the game to release, everyone. At least the developers are taking their time rather than pushing it put immediately so it crashes every few minutes, etc.
